As a native of this state it becomes easy to take such beauty for granted. Your videos reminds me of why I love this state. Your videos are fantastic. IMHO the coast just gets better and better as you go south, less people more senic and the redwoods await.

Welcome to Oregon, I just cleared logs off that section of trail about the weeks ago where you camped at the old shelters. When you hiked through Seaside you were walking in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark when they spent the winter of 1805 near Astoria and at Seaside they boiled seawater for salt preservative. The OCT is only one of our long trails in Oregon, we have the first section of the PCT here (blazed in 1920) and the recent completion of the 750-mile Oregon Desert Trail. There's also the 520-mile Blue Mountain trail of northeast Oregon and we are working on the 300-mile Chinook Trail to loop on both sides of the Columbia River Gorge. Have fun 😊

Hiked from Ft. Stevens to Brookings in 2019. Beautiful hike but a lot of yellow blazing. Fresh water on those beach sections? Nope. Hitting a town most days helps. Take care, Crackerjack.

This will be cool. I've thought about bikepacking the Oregon Coast. It'll be interesting to see what hiking it is like (i.e. how much road walking). I have done some day hiking and chowder tasting while visiting the Oregon coast, and Tillamook Head is pretty nice.

Hey guys, you are "stumbling" into my neck of the woods (I'm guessing you are within 20miles or so of me)! I've been following every step of your (and Julia and Cory's) journey's since MexicoI would love to provide a little trail magic or give you / group a ride if you are hoping to skip some of the road walking. If you are interested what is the best way for me to get you my cell so we can text "real time"?

You can't get a better Independence Day than that. Beautiful. Let's hope it's the Trail that keeps giving. The Whale and Bald Eagle were beautiful. Saw dozens of Bald Eagles in Ketchikan, but it was raining all the time. The weren't as majestic as this one. Saw Whales breaching off Maui too. You can just sit there all day and watch them. Great first day. PS Can we have our Tea back now?

I knew you’d see bald eagles. They love to hunt on the beach. So many critters for them to eat. Try razor clams if you can. They are super good and plentiful across northern Oregon. You won’t find them in many other regions. Dont you just love all the rain forest ferns everywhere? The Oregon coast is spectacular. You are inspiring g me to do a OCT hike. The whales in those parts live there year around. Most don’t migrate. So you are guaranteed to see them nearly everyday. When you get to tillamook stop at the sea food market across hwy 101 from tillamook cheese factory. Get the fish snd chips and chowder there. Check out tillamook cheese factory. They make the best cheese cuz they are strict about what their cows eat and drink. Down to the well water in town. Their yogurt and ice cream are great too

I'm so jealous of your whale sighting! I've yet to see one despite hitting every whale watching spot on the west coast. I drove the PCH from the top of Washington to the bottom of California over four months, and the Oregon coast was easily my favorite. This makes me miss it. I've actually been considering doing the OCT so I'll be curious to see what you all think.
