Hi Sam and Moriah! I followed your great PCT journey in 2022 and I will be class of 2025 ... doing the planning I was wondering if you used an Ursack or something similar while hiking through Washington?

About $3 a mile per person. In 2020 it was cost me about $2.50 mile. Whiskey budget was much higher than yours lol great video me and my GF are hiking it again in 2025.

Haha, Sawmill Camp was my worst night on trail and I know others have said the same. Didn't help that on top of being freezing and intensely windy I couldn't find the water and only had like 200ml left.

Thanks for great video as I plan to do the same thing for my solar. Please help me to calculate the tilt of the structure, I need it has tilt of 28 degree with the high end is 8 feet high so what is the height of lower end to get 28 degree tilt with the 7"6' span between the posts. Your help is greatly appreciated

I like the digital info app, but to be honest I might prefer a readout - indicator on the controller.

Franconia Ridge Trail. Takes forever climbing up Franconia Ridge coming from Galehead Hut. Then short and steep coming down from Greenleaf Hut to the highway. Have climbed this several times. I once spent two weeks here in October. My favorite hike in the White Mountains

Maybe you could do these chats with other Hikers you met on the Trail. Would be interesting to hear about their hikes compared to yours. And how different they turned out. Im always interested in how other hikes turned out when you started sooner or later or when you walked faster or slower. Not running into certain Fires, Snow, Snowmelt, Heat, Mosquiotos or running into them compared to others.

Thanks for the reality check. My anxiety is definitely climbing. Will be stepping off March 10. Going with crampons over micro's. We have already had a few die this year on Mt. Baldy so not taking any chances.
@sam.and.moriah Жыл бұрын
Definitely consider some hillsound “ trail crampons” they are a more aggressive micro spike but not traditional crampons. Doing a lot of miles with crampons will take a toll on your body, risk knee and ankle injuries, probably rip your pants several times ( we have a lot of experience walking with crampons for when we absolutely have to) do what seems right for you but we never came across a section on the pct that crampons would be helpful.

LOL . . . I'm having a panic attack just watching it @29:30 with all the camera motion but it's much worse to watch than to hike. Ouch . . . I fell right in that same area a month after you did and I was also wearing microspikes. I had a big lump on the side of my knee that was there for two months. I was hiking too fast because I wanted to get below the snow to find a camp spot. It was all day to do 13 miles but it was like hiking in a Christmas card for parts of it till it all started melting. In the morning it was fairy dust of ice crystals raining from the trees. Everything was sparkling. Wow! What a cool gal Heather is . . .

Some suggestions: it's hard to hear you all with the audio from the video going. I'd recommend some cheap lav mics or (less ideally) pausing the video to say something. Also, can we gift you a KZbin Premium so we don't have to watch ads? :P
