Episode 1: Northeast Arkansas (Paragould and Jonesboro)

A little background and history on Northeast Arkansas, some of the food, and my connection to it.
I had very limited time to do what I did, and wasn't able to film as many restaurants as I wanted, so it's a little rough around the edges, but a good place to start nonetheless.
This is Fat Travels Episode 1!

Born and raised in Jonesboro. Currently living about 30 minutes from STL. There's a bomb Mexican restaurant/grocery store right off of Mathews where they took out the road that used to lead to the college. If it's still there, they had pork rinds three foot tall.

@@FatTravels there's too many to list in the city itself but there's a small family owner Cuban restaurant in Warrenton not too far outside of STL that I try to go out of my way for. Great service, made me and my wife feel like family and homemade pastries that they love for everyone to try. Papus Cuban cafe is worth the visit.

Dog N Suds, we had one in Newport back in the day. Hung out there after ball games and during the weekends. NE Arkansas is noted for their mosquitoes which are hatched in all the rice fields that make up the delta. Family farm was in Jackson county just north of Grubbs where there is no where to eat these days. Paragould and Jonesboro have grown, can't say that about Newport. I'm sure it will become another Cotton Plant as the years pass. Thanks for the memories, I now live in Mcnairy county Tennessee which is the home of the famous Buford Pusser.

@FatTravels
@FatTravels 2 жыл бұрын
I mean I wish I had been paid to be there to film this. But that was by design to sound like that, because it's not exactly a tourist destination. People don't know NEA unless you're from there. There is nothing on KZbin that discusses anything about that area specifically; food, history, culture, or otherwise. Perhaps it sounds more like I'm detached from it or like a tourist because I haven't really lived there for 20 years. If it felt impersonal.... I purposely left out family and friends because this isn't completely meant to be an intimate vlog. It was my 1st visit in 3 years since my dad had passed, so it wasn't all fun. Had some closure. And I was there to see my niece graduate high school. I managed to put this video together in my free time (people being at work, time to kill)

If I had to give a critique... your narration is very monotonous like you’re Daria from MTV. Where’s the hype? You’re a music buff too but there’s no music 🤔.. would really add a cherry on top. Also- food porn playa!! Cut into it. Show us the cheese stretch. Give us yolky break downs. If that shit bleeds - show us the blood or juicy meat! Give us top shots as well as close ups. Bring people with you for alternative reactions to the delicious food. See if you can interview people eating there and get there take on it. Talk to the head chefs and see how long they running it and what they recommend off their menu. Great idea and awesome first episode! Can’t wait to watch the next one! ☺️
