This series of programs " Lost and Forgotten" is one of the finest and illuminating programs I 've ever watched, Dr.Karim's knowledge is impressive, and the eloquent way he illustrates different communities captivates the mind. Dr.Karim is an asset to Sri Lanka and to the University of Colombo as a knowledgeable historian and an eminent scholar.❤👍

30,000 monks came from a place near Kabul, I think its called Taxila. The British called it the Alexandra of the east in BC 160 or before for the opening of Ruwanwalisaya in Anuradhapura during the reign of Dutugamunu. They were given a separate quarter in the city. These people never left. Although I have no proof- some of them became became Kandyan nobility. Ranjan Madugalle, is probably one of them. The people of Ancient Afghanistan and Pakistan were Buddhists. Its easy to identify them. They are light skinned, taller than the average Sri Lankan and are square face with a sharp nose. Priyantha Ekanayake, SL Rugby captain from the 90's , from Kandy is another guy with sharp features uncommon to the Sinhalese.
