Mi-26. The biggest, the most spacious, the most powerful helicopter with the highest carrying capacity. This time it’s the headliner of this episode of Combat approved. This aircraft holds dozens of world records, it just doesn’t have any competitors. Just like toys, it can carry construction machines, other helicopter, airplanes, and even yachts! Moreover, only Mi-26 can lift another Mi-26! Nevertheless, it’s still a very precise, maneuverable and easy-to-control aircraft. It seems that there’s nothing that this air Atlas can’t do, but Combat Approved has prepared a special trial for it. Its abilities have never been tested like that!

@BeKindToBirds
@BeKindToBirds 3 жыл бұрын
The two rotors are to make it faster, not to increase it's capacity. With the same lifting power a single rotor helicopter will be slower. It also allows it to have greater control, allowing it to make boat extractions in rough seas and things like that.

@@kyoshiroma Special for You ! Russian engines. Part 1. Helicopters engines (premiere) For its viewers, COMBAT APPROVED has prepared new programs that will focus not on tanks, planes or submarines, but on their engines. Turbojet and turboprop engines for planes and helicopters, diesel engines for tanks and ships, and even jet engines for launching rockets into space. The theme of the first program is helicopter engines. Most of them are produced in St. Petersburg, where the engine was developed for the Mil Mi-28NM "Night hunter", Kamov Ka-52 "Alligator" and the legendary Mil Mi-8 attack helicopters. Only thanks to this engine in 1994, Russian helicopter pilots did incredible things: during the rescue of the sinking ferry "Estonia", they literally sat on the water in order to be able to pull out of the water the maximum number of passengers who die in a stormy sea in a short period of time. There will be another story in the program: how in Dagestan, helicopter engines engulfed in flames pulled the car to land. Such reliable engines are obtained, among other things, because each of their parts passes many checks. This includes x-rays, endoscopy, detection of defects using ultraviolet light, and even sound control. In addition, COMBAT APPROVED will talk about promising engines for new rotorcraft, parts for which are already printed on a 3D printer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4u0e6SFfrN0eac

Why not putting 4 small string wires on 4 corners of the upper craft that attach to 4 corner points on lower craft, just to keep it from spinning. Make them stretchable maybe, not to take too much vibrations and stressing to either aircraft...

What these documentaries don't say is despite being a huge and capable helicopter it chews up so much man hours of maintenance that the initial smaller cost trebles over time hence proves not a practical solution. This is why Indians went with Chinook - sacrifice haulage a little for cheaper running cost and availability.
@JASHVEER22
@JASHVEER22 3 жыл бұрын
Partly true. Indeed platform cost is less than lifecycle cost but also to factor Indian procurement process so slow that mid life upgrade keeps getting delayed and obsolescence steps in.

I agree. Despite Mi-26 having raw power & immense capability, the maintenance is just too much. We used the Mi-26 earlier, but the costs of maintenance & the poor post-procurement support were just too much for the IAF. There is no point in being a Hangar queen and being a powerful beast.

You need big helicopters and plain in Russia because of the huge territory Russia has and also the weather that make it hard for ground transportation to carry heavy loads they would get stuck in the snow or during the summer in large swaps. It ideal for Russia since it 4X the size of America.
