good job you pointed this out, I have seen some review a Warship the same as this but by different Manufacturer but had the exact same problem, so I understood the loco grounding itself but the reviewer did not understand that, so its good to a solution, thank you

Gormo - Firstly, many thanks for taking the time and effort to respond to my request for assistance in relation to this issue. Excellent video that explains your fix for intermittent running of Mainline Warship Diesels. I will attempt a repair of one of my three Warships, during the week, and advise you of the outcome. Once again, THANK YOU. Michael

Just picked up a lovely green version of the Mainline Warship at the London Festival of Model Railways for a bargain £15 - due to a gear problem effecting running - probably just what you describe. I'll take her apart and have a look - but your video is perfect timing for me, and hopefully will make her run sweetly again, so many thanks!

No worries John, I hope it`s not the usual split gear problem.???......Good luck and I hope it works out well for you. Cheers Gormo

If it is a split gear, I will butcher my maroon Mainline warship which has a burnt out motor and use that! So no worries really,,, cheers Gormo! John

Gormo - apologies for the delay in updating my progress. I have been unavailable for several weeks. Stripped down the locomotive today, the gears don't look to bad. Removed the underside of the gear housing, greased the gears and axles, removed the part of the bogie frame that dictates the rise and fall of the chassis. Resoldered all wires and only have too install (tomorrow) the " suspension wire" under the weights.

I like the Warships, but they are becoming hard to find in good condition. Further to your reply from Nathan, can you tell me why you decided to build your layout themed on the GWR, being as you live in Australia? It's a brilliant layout and I have picked on a few ideas for my own new layout, that I will be starting to build, (GWR period 1955 - 60) once I get my shed fully insulated. It is 12ft x 8ft. I wish I had more space, but I live in a 1 bedroom bungalow, so have no where else I can build it. I'm new to your channel, but I have learned a lot from all the videos Iv'e watched so far. My old layout was just a small industrial shunting layout based on colliery with small tanks, running down one side of the shed on a board 3ft x 8. This time I will be using both sides and across the back, with a 3ft lift out section to allow access through the center placed door.

G`day Geoff, Firstly I am having trouble with replying on KZbin. Seems to be some conflict in the system...take 2. I have always liked most things British. Possibly because I have British ancestry. I had Triang and Hornby trains as a child. I like British cars....have a 1969 MG...couldn`t afford a JAG....favorite airplane is Supermarine Spitfire....just beautiful.......I loved the Beatles like most people....Married an English girl.....the list goes on and on. There is something about the clean lines of British steam and also they can go like the clappers. GWR.???......Gods Wonderful Railway built by a 25 year old Isambard Kingdom Brunel.....my engineer hero.....GWR for me epitomizes British steam. A Castle or a King or a Hall in just out of the shed condition is a thing of beauty. I rest my case your honor.....LOL Cheers Gormo

Hi Gormo, yes Gods Wonderful Railway has to be the best of the big four but I do like the LMS as well. Would love to see Duchess Of Hamilton back on the main line after being put back to streamlined condition. As a boy I remember seeing quite a lot of Coronations, that were de-streamlined just after WW2, that still had their sloping smoke boxes, to adapt the bath tub shape of the streamlining, (Bathtubs) as they were known. Hamilton is still sitting next to Mallard at York Railway Museum, but the cost of getting her back in steam before I pop my clogs, is very doubtful. She needs a complete new boiler and lots of major bottom end repairs, before she can run again, estimated at over two million. The NRM overspent on Scotsman's recent refurbishment, which is a sight to see again, back on the main line and on loan at preserved railways. I live about thirty miles from the severn valley railway, which was formerly a GWR line and still is under preservation. Keep up the good work Gormo, you layout is fantastic and you help so many other railway modelers with your material you put out every month. Best place I have subscribed to yet, for information, Take care, speak to you again soon. Geoff

Great idea for improved running. Older models are not quite so comfortable on more modern track, I find. ps (I have a Western chassis (refurbished) Class 52. . Does anyone have a body they don't need? )- Thanks. Bob

how did you got interested in the hobby?
@greatchesterfordjunction6 жыл бұрын
G`day Nathan, I guess I got interested like a lot of folks do, by being given a train set when I was 7 yrs old. Even though I became interested in many other things over the years I eventually came back to trains. The hobby is so varied and appeals to a lot of different people, whether it be the electrical side or the artistic side or the trains themselves, it doesn`t matter. It`s the sort of hobby that allows reasonable participation at any skill level and consequently the joy derived from that keeps one motivated to keep cracking on. Those outside the hobby can`t understand that model railway hobbyists don`t care if their railways are never finished, but those that love the hobby completely understand and accept that there will always be that little something extra that can be added or changed. So I guess that`s the appeal.........our hobby has it`s own little secret agenda for us, that is allowed to continually change and develop by us ......the owners of our miniature railway empires. Cheers Gormo
