Hi Felino! Thank you for making these videos that help us learn more of what its like to be a flight nurse. I am considering becoming a flight nurse. I'm almost 40 years old, hoping its not too late. Actually, I worked as an EMT from 19 years old to 24 years old and my husband was my paramedic partner, lol and we're still together. He was a flight medic in the panhandle of north florida back in 2006 but the base got shut down (GULFlight 1). I've learned a lot from him about HEMS. I'll be done with my Bachelor's in Public Health in 2 weeks and I am considering going to nursing school (still have my EMT cert), then working in ER or ICU for 3 years minimum, then applying to local flight companies. I've wanted to work in flight for a long time. I was pre-med for years but decided that is not for me. So I thought about what I'd really like to do and I believe it is flight. I think I should do a ride-along with a local flight crew to confirm this, do you recommend this? Thanks for reading my novel, lol! ~Cicely

Thank you for the amazing message! Thank you for you and your husband for y'all's public service! There is no age limit to the job as long as you can make the physical requirements, so it's never too late! I would definitely do a ride along to get a look at behind the scenes! You sound like you got a solid plan! Time to execute! 💪

@@FelinoLino So far I’m loving it! A very good change from bedside. It only gets sketchy when we travel to places like Haiti. 😅

How does the compensation compare to something like full time in a Hospital?
@FelinoLino Жыл бұрын
More than full time at a hospital. I worked as a travel nurse as well and flight is a comparable salary

@@FelinoLino that’s awesome! I’m a FF/Paramedic in a busy 911 system right now, and have a year of ED/ICU experience; hoping to get into flight one day.
