Thank You, Rick, I've been waiting for this one in particular. I've had this cake several times in Oaxaca, but never thought to get a recipe! The mole coloradito is delicious.

When I was in the Dominican Republic I was served Cacao fresh squeezed juice. It was like a chocolate shake without the thickness. It was soooo delicioso!

^*fresh squeezed cacao juice, never Cacao fresh squeezed juice Fresh cacao tastes NOTHING like chocolate (it must be fermented and roasted to get the chocolate-y flavor), soooooo nope, no you didn’t.🙄🤡🤦♂️🤷♂️💩👎

Where can one purchase their chocolate??
@RoninDosho Жыл бұрын
If you can find TAZA chocolate or CHOCOSOL (from Ontario) these are the best, barring travel to the Yucatan, or Oaxaca for that matter.

I've prepared and tasted your upside down pineapple and/or peach cake. And what surprised me was how the all-purpose flour blended so well with the wheat flour in both taste and texture. ... As for this pumpkin cake, is it possible to substitute the white sugar for light brown sugar?

What an interesting episode. Chocolate has always been a mystery to me. So, since it originates from a tree, does that make chocolate a fruit? That means it's good for us, right? :-) I'm looking forward to making the pepita chocolate cake. Thanks Rick!

In Mexico we don’t eat the chocolate we drink the chocolate

Hi Rick! Gotta make the cake and the mole! Just curious about the recipe you made in the video and the recipe you included as a link for the mole are different. You did 2 tomatoes, the recipe calls for 4… recipe says bread crumbs, cloves, raisins and almonds but you didn’t use on this video. What to do if this is your 1st time making???

Oops….there wasn’t a chocolate cocktail with macerated cacao and chile infused tequila. That sounded quite interesting! Made the chocoflan cake on Sunday with dark chocolate. My flan turned out grayish, not creamy colored like yours. Troubleshooting tips? It seemed like my sweetened condensed milk wasn’t as sticky and thick as yours and the evaporated milk was darker and maybe thinner too. I bought whole foods organic. Do you think the flan was too runny?

Much is being said, lately, about dark chocolate from many parts of the world being contaminated with lead and cadmium. Does this apply to Mexican chocolate?
@RoninDosho Жыл бұрын
I. An only speak from my experiences in Oaxaca. The answer is very likely. Most of the cacao is stone ground. The chocolate is referred to as “crudo”, loosely translated to unrefined (as compared to milk chocolate).
