Mr. Owens, I’m retired military (22 years active duty). I feel the same way about my military retirement and post military experience. I strongly recommend you begin a relationship with the VA. Although you are relatively healthy now, having a yearly checkup will allow you to treat small medical issues before they turn into massive, life-changing problems. A simple routine annual checkup can detect life threatening (i. e. cancer) problems early which significantly improve your chances of successful treatment. Remember, it’s not always about you. Do it for your family, it’s simple, easy and the price is right (free)!

You speak truth on so many levels and appreciate these series so thank you sir! Makes me think of the very few good and inspirational NCO’s I met in my time in the Infantry. They always say “respect the rank not the man” but I think that’s a highly flawed statement. Looking back, the nco’s I respected most were the ones who (I felt) respected me. It had nothing to do with rank, you knew it and respected when need be but it’s all about the personal skills and having the ability to talk to them on their level that makes a good leader. 🙏🏼

Great podcasts, I've listened to them all. Some of your stories are relatable to my grandfather...he joined at 17 and served ww2, Korea, Vietnam and sf...he retired command sergeant major . He turned down being commissioned to a officer around 14 times. He left boxes of orders and pics after he passed at 94. He was also the un inlisted envoy to south Korea in training troop capacity . Keep the podcast coming.

Fake it till you make it! That’s another reason I like Cleared Hot Podcast. He may have been an elite operator but he doesn’t try to bullshit people about his career. There are waaaay too many “expert operators” out there trying to bullshit anybody that doesn’t have military experience. Thanks for being a down to earth guy, Kevin. I love the stories.

Awesome video Kevin thank you for telling your story with no bullshit and nothing but modesty, I personally would love to hear more specifics on gear as you mentioned. I would also be very happy to hear you describe missions and operations that you were on and can talk about. Best channel on you tube. Thank you !!!

I understand much of it is classified, but the tech is what I find most interesting in the DoD and would love to hear you discuss some successful or failed projects in gear, kit, and tech. Loved this episode - you're a natural with a microphone and my favorite mil-related content.

Thanks so much for your honesty and intelligence. I know there are many of us civilians who are absolute guns, ammo, and kit junkies. I think you would get a great reception to a video discussing technical aspects of weapons platforms and your experiences with them.

Kevin, when you mentioned changing things over time and hinted at possibly 'being the problem'; I would have to firmly disagree. Systems are set in place and they have shortfalls. Recognition and improvement of those systems are vital to progress. I can say that the MRAD wouldn't have been developed without you, and the areas of improvement will benefit generations. Please keep sight of the good you have done in past, present and future.

You are Crushing this MSG. I am a long-time listener and viewer of your content dating back to you and mike in the early days of content for fieldcraft. I really enjoy Listening to you talk about your life journey during my drives to and from work. Thank you for sharing your story with such honor, truth, and respect. I am a fellow Benning basic graduate from 07-96 to 11-96. 2/54Inf. 11M. Best job I ever had. Loved gunning and commanding M2 BFVs. The good days when life was simple. I also really enjoyed your Ballistics 101 Series. After listening to your series I am wanting to build a new rifle for long-range shooting. What are your thoughts on the Horus HoVR Scope? Should I spend my time with it or just go with Nightforce? 6.5 Ceedmore, Check. Rifle Make/Model? Thank you again for your willingness to share your knowledge and journey.

Kevin, I’ve really enjoyed watching your content for some time now. My boy is starting at West Point in the summer. I’m a lifelong shooter and reloader but have been a little set in my ways . I’m usually 10-15 years behind the curve on new innovations in that arena. For instance, I just got into suppressors and some “newer” calibers like 6.5 CM and .300BLK.😊. I’ve built a number of AR15’s, but am considering an AR10 platform. I reload for .308, and 6.5 CM, but I was going to ask your thoughts on the relative merits of the .260 Remington. Great content! Mike G.

I can really relate to all of this. Was a supplier in (C&T) Clothing and textiles. The process is brutal. Worked with dozens of contract officers. I met two who had any idea what they were doing. The user name and password thing is funny. As a supplier we had to maintain around 20 different accounts with 18 digit passwords that had to be changed every three months. That made me nuts.

Kevin, Glad you dug down on this subject! I love your blunt accurate way of working. You are a warrior and don't bother with the BS. Love to see the HR personality test (whatever the name is) your most likely trait is probably debater that complements your leadership. An Irish American knows how to protect the taxpayer and resist the M.I.C. fat cats! Hope Vinny is OK!

G-Day Kev, mate go to the Doc's, I lost my brother boxing day 2022, saw him Christmas day he dropped dead the next day at the hospital carpark, he hadn't gone to a doctor for 10 years and it was a bitch to get his death certificate signed off, go to the doc's for your family. Have watched all your pod cast' and I'm looking forward to hearing more, some of my life has run parallel to yours but mine was in the Australian Army. Cheers mate.

How is the bolt action holding its own in warfare today? Are we still reaching out to 1500m with .338 for precision ? UKR seems to be trenches and IDF or Armored vehicles.

Bolt guns still fire big bullets better than gas guns, big heavy bolt guns are for engaging at distance from a static position, a 1500m shot with a trained sniper is very achievable these days, the goal is always to provide overmatch against enemy snipers

I know you know a lot about optics and have probably tried every optic worth a damn on the market. I have a BCM 14.5" with an "enhanced light weight" barrel. I want to keep the setup lightweight but I'd like to gain some magnification. Are there any 1-6 or 1-8x lpvo's worth a damn that aren't ridiculously expensive or should I just go with something like an ACOG+RMR? Is the Vortex Viper 1-6pst Gen 2 any good? I'd really prefer to have variable magnification if at all possible but lpvo's are so expensive.
