I'll tell you what, you're not short of enthusiasm! I need to take a leaf out of your book, as I'm in the middle of trying to tidy up my Capri before the summer rolls in. I hope you remember how it all goes back together. I'd be buggered doing that without a heap of pics for reference.

I have recently purchased a 97 sport, 3.2, 190,000km, just cleaning it up underneath, because we don't use salt on our roads,.(New Zealand) absolutely no rust, apart from some surface rust on a few nuts underneath. So good not having to do rust work. Faults are the radio and clock don't go, and drivers seat bolster needs touching up. Maybe a gearbox flush, and a slight leak around the thermostat or water pump.The cam cover needs repainting, not sure what to use, want it to look original. I am doing the wheels up, a lot of filing off rim rash, same ones as yours, and whilst underneath, I took the rear muffler off, with a view to cleaning it and painting with heat resistant paint, but found that it is all stainless. Cleaned it up, looks like new, amazing for a 26 year old car.

Sounds like you have a cracking car John. It is such a shame that rust has begun attacking mine. I love this car. I've had it over 10 years now and it still makes me smile. The Manual gearbox is really solid and I personally think it enhances the driving experience. It has a few other niggles here and there, but I get great pleasure in fixing and maintaining my own cars where I can. I will learn how to weld myself one day too. Haha.

Check the starter motor relay passenger side front by the radiator.

Thanks very much for your advice. You're certainly on the right line with this. There have actually been developments on this already, which I will speak about in the next video that goes out. As it turned out, there were even more electrical issues that I hadn't uncovered at the time. Watch this space!

@@jimmykneesall Looking forward to seeing the next video as just in the process of buying a 96 4.0 here in France to replace my Dirty Diesel XF 3.0 and can't wait to get into it. Last proper Coventry car was my old Daimler XJC 4.2 when I lived in New Zealand.

@@woodrimcars2324 Thank you. Really appreciate that. My Dad is on his second 4.0. His first was a Manual, which is very rare indeed. When he got his second, he had the Manual gearbox from his first one fitted to it! The XJC is a very pretty car indeed.

I've got a 99 jaguar vanden plas mine is rusted out much worse than that one but I'm going to take my time and restore it I don't like to see them go to the scrapyard. I'm also going to construct a full perimeter chassis on mine to make it stronger..awesome video my friend..

Thanks very much David. Really appreciate your comments. I've had this car for a long time now. Given that it's also a rare Manual, she definitely deserves a bit of TLC. I'll have an update on how the repairs are progressing in the next video. I'm guessing yours is an X308, given that it's a '99? Keep me posted on how your restoration goes.

@@jimmykneesall yes sir buddy that is what it is. I'm having difficulty in finding any parts over here for it. I'd love to find one that maybe has been wrecked for parts. Mine was given to me last year I drove it and fell in love with it I know most people wouldn't do that much work to fix it but I want to save it and I like to have a project going on.

@@davidmckinney6577 They are fab cars. I'm on my second. My Dad's on his fourth. All 6 have been Manuals! Shame you're having trouble finding bits. Where are you from? The UK still has a pretty decent amount kicking around. For now anyway.

Oh Jimmy I have a 1996 X300 and I feel for you more than for those guys who are always boasting about buying the cheapest Jag. I paid a lot for mine and so I think I should start a new blog " I just bought the most expensive X300" I have owned so many cars in my 77 years and the rule soon became, "always been buy the most expensive in the best condition" or you will spend more in the long run. That's if you intend to keep it. Even so I have still had a few bad ones my self. I had a 1969 XJ6 in the 70's that all the sills had to be replaced. I soon learnt the value of Fisholine after the work had been done. It's pointless doing any body work if you don't treat and protect the work after it is done. I restored a car in the late 70's which I had also had to replace the sills and floors pan areas etc, I still have that car today, with no signs of rust, and that is mostly due to the Fisholine I sprayed on the hidden insides, where the rust begins and works it's way outwards. That's so nice of you to say Richard. Thank you so much. The good news is that much progress has been made on the car since then, which can be viewed in Episode's 124, 132, 145, 148, 154 and 178. Feel free to check them out and have a laugh at my efforts! 😂 It has certainly been a patience-tester and there are still bits to do, but the car is currently on the road and I'm happy. Certainly it seems like you're a Jaaag man, given the cars you've had and the work you've had done to them. Ultimately, if something is a little more expensive to buy than something else, so what? If you're happy with it, that's what matters. I've had my X300 for 10 years now. I love it, cos it looks nice and it's a 5-speed Manual. It's the 2nd I've owned. Ironically, it only cost me £1200! 😁 Me and my Dad have had 6 Manual XJ6's between us. If this interests you, check out Episode 109. You only removed the bolts and not the extra spacers, and need to come out too, else you cant take the bumper off. Sometimes they are rusty and some lube is required. You can even see them in your video @ 14.23

Thanks. Are you sure they're spacers and not just the inner liners for those bolts to thread up? I have taken these bumpers off before, but I can't remember having to remove anything else besides the bolts before sliding the bumper out. I've certainly never had to remove the mounts before.

At the time Eamo, especially after the starting-up issues, I was thinking about smashing the crap out of it with a big hammer! HaHa! Only joking! She's an awesome car. They did exactly the same for me too pal. About the same price. I think the scares that people have with underside welding of any car is the costs involved, but I'd bet that most of the time those costs include the garage stripping the interior down. As long as you can do the prep work yourself, like I did, you can keep the costs low. There's a few other videos after this of me putting it all back, along with a few other repairs before the MOT. 👍
