I stand by Dragon's decision. Marejois at the time was protected by Kong, a prime Sengoku, and a prime Garp. Even if we speculate that Dragon was somehow a match for Garp at the time. Nobody in his crew could have taken on Sengoku or Kong. That includes Iva. He would have lost far more people if he went to try and save Ginny, and there was a high chance of failure. This decision doesn't lower my view of Dragon, but I can understand why people are calling him soft after this chapter.

Tbh this chapter actually made me like Dragon more while I understand why y’all would say dislike him for this. We saw what happens when you go against the marines unprepared when Luffy tried to save ace, Ace got killed and Luffy almost did too. And then we saw what happened to Whitebeard when he went prepared he lost the war. It’s easy to be Luffy and throw caution to the wind, Dragon made the hard but right decision. Think about everything Dragon would have to go against, and if he loses which would be almost 100% percent chance that he will everything falls. If they go in and get destroyed everything he worked for gets destroyed with him. While Ginny herself is important to the revolutionary army she and no one is worth going against the marines home base ill prepared. This is what war and revolution is making the hard decisions.

I love how everyone was saying Dragon was a fraud. Kuma who can go anywhere he likes couldn't go straight to her. There has to be something up with that and two who say they weren't looking for her. He probably had his men and women around the world looking but not leaving their post on any news they can find on her. Oda probably would have draw it if he had time. He also helped, find Doctor and use resources that they have to help Kuma. Also why is no one saying anything about Ivankov? They are her brother's/sister they didn't go looking. Like let's look at circumstances they got into the celestial dragons place because of the Reverie. They were planning the whole time to get there and declare war on them. I’m pushing back on the Mihawk , Blackbeard and Kidd SLANDER. There is not a single showing that makes Mihawk weak, he’s been consistently stated to be a top tier fighter. His bounty is exclusively based on his strength and skill with the blade. Marineford clearly showed him not trying against anyone he fought against. The fact that he and the literal sword god are the only two characters with black blades should show his status in the story. Blackbeard is the most pirate character in the entire show, Luffy himself stated that pirates don’t fight fair which is exactly the kind of fighter he is. Even without his cheap tricks, he’s an absolute powerhouse. This applies to both BB and Mihawk, but this heavy emphasis on “feats and portrayal” is kinda pointless. Oda doesn’t need to show a character doing anything for them to be a top tier. Roger has a like 2 panels of feats but the narrative portrays him as one of if not the strongest pirate to have ever existed. Oda is a story teller, not a power scaler. For Kidd, he actually does have good portrayal. People just have a massive bias against him (which I’ve never understood). If Shanks is such a highly regarded figure , why does him one shotting Kidd mean he’s fodder? As it’s been stated, Shanks always takes his opponents seriously so the fact he stepped to the plate means Kidd was a serious threat. Moreover, most pirates in the show would’ve been dealt with the exact same way, Law, Zoro, Sanji, hell even Luffy could’ve been done in like that. Anyways, rant over 😭 love the show and the work y’all are doing but I just had to get that out. I wanna call in soon to discuss all of this, mostly Mihawk 😂

My problem with Dragon is that we don’t see Dragon in the frontline. It always his commanders so then when we see his commanders getting capture and Dragon just batting an eye for his own bigger picture. It just doesn’t make me like his character. And for all the Dragon’s fan talking about: “You expect him to raid the Holy land?”, if Bro is currently okay with Sabo and a few of his commanders raid the Holy land when they have higher security such as Cipher Pols and even the Admirals to claim he couldn’t 14yr ago is a bit wild. The only thing that saving Dragon is maybe that fisher tiger situation happen a year ago so security is harder. That’s the only cope I could give for Dragon. Still doesn’t change my dislike with Dragon’s character

Admirals, CP, and Holy Knights existed back then too. Also just last chapter Dragon said they were underfunded which means they barely have enough for the revolution. Why is it hard to grasp that something like braking into the Holy Land is easier when your forces are stronger? On top of that do you remember how they got in to the Holy Land? They snuck in using the DF of one of the newer commanders. In the flashback as far as we know they only way they could get in is with Kuma and people keep saying he can teleport in. I don't think he can. Remember in the current time line he still had the climb the redline and dude was fighting on his way there. I agree with TOPT that I wish he should have acted but I disagree that he needed to for his character to be likeable or whatever.

The Reverie is an important event which is why you have these type of security here but yet Dragon is fine with having Sabo and a few men raid it still. Dragon knew the risk but was fine to risk 4 of his commanders for this but if it’s just for 1 commanders not in his Overall plan so not his problem. That’s my first issue with him. Calling Dragon a coward is just plain ridiculous. I mean, he's the only one who's dared to stand up to the world government in over 800 years, and he's managed to survive and make a real impact. He's been empowering kingdoms and sparking revolutions along the way. Now, folks wanna label him a coward just because he didn't throw himself and his whole crew into one reckless move? Seriously? Ginny wasn't just some random slave anyone could free; she was kidnapped, forced into marriage, and made to bear a child for a celestial dragon. That's messed up we all agree, however... Let's not forget, this was back in the day when the revolutionaries were just getting started - they weren't the powerhouse they are now. By the way, Garp might not be a fraud, but he's definitely a coward. Dragon, on the other hand, doesn't fall into the same category he didnt lie to himself justifying the marines. I don't even see Dragon as super strong, but emotions are running high, and folks are missing the point. It's not a fair comparison with Luffy, who's gotten his fair share of luck and plot advances. I mean, Kaido, pre-timeskip Kizaru, Marineford, Impel Down - Luffy's been saved so many times. And Sabo and the gang getting into the Holy Land? It was all thanks to the Reverie, years of waiting and planning. Simple as that. Look at Fisher Tiger - he freed a few slaves, but where is he now? And where are the Fishmen? What systemic change did he actually bring about? Every slave he freed got replaced within a week. You can't bring a butter knife to a gunfight. Rebellion means bloodshed, and someone's gotta say, "Go die for my cause." Now add, "Go die trying to target a Celestial Dragon holding one of our own in the Holy Land, with our limited resources, knowing you'll almost certainly fail as we waste money and resources we don't have, risking exposure and leaving kingdoms with hundreds of thousands fending for themselves as we prioritize one over all." It's more than just fighting a few systemic injustices. It's a rebellion in its infancy. Starting a global revolution ain't a joke, especially against a superpower with nukes that can wipe out kingdoms globally. People wanna judge Dragon, but in war, especially when they were a smaller crew, losing him would've been devastating for all the kingdoms he inspired and for the organization itself. Sure, it might rub people the wrong way, but Dragon ain't a coward. He can't afford to risk everything, and we gotta understand the bigger picture here. It's unfair to draw conclusions without considering the challenges he and everyone aligned with him is facing.

Saying that Dragon is not acting like a OP character is crazy, he's a pirate "protects" islands just by putting a flag there. Do you really think if fishman island was attacked by some pirates, the strawhats would come back to beat them? Bruh, dragon has A LOT of islands depending on him. If his organization goes down, thousands of island will be destroyed by the WG. We don't know who took ginny, if the one who kept Ginny as a wife was a Gorosei, like Saturn, you can already know they can't just go there and took her from his hands. When people say “Dragon doesn’t do anything” I think it’s pretty funny to be honest. The shear existence of the Revolutionary Army is nothing short of amazing. Forming it alone is the actions of a conqueror. He built an international infrastructure of militant peasants and freed slaves that just officially declared war on an 800 year empire that spans practically all the known world. He didn’t drop everything and risk all his decade long plans to save a loved one unlike his father or son would have. Not being like them doesn’t make him a bad character. For all we know he has a much more gray personality maybe he just takes more after his mother we don’t know anything besides lore and assumptions Context clues lead one to believe they didn’t try to rescue Ginny because they couldn’t and knew they couldn’t. Full stop. Luffy wants to be pirate king and thinks he needs his specific crew to do it. Garp wants to rebuild the Marines from the ground up by training each new generation to take over and thinks he needs Koby and by Sword to do it. Dragon wants to overthrow the government and thinks he needs to be patient and careful to do it. He didn’t need to save Ginny and couldn’t so he didn’t.
