Even after (almost) 2 years since this video's release it's a masterpiece. I took all the tips at heart and decided to go test the Audi GT3 24 hr on Daytona road circuit. My laptimes were in the 1.56-1.57's (because i race like a madman, crash a lot, have to break a lot to keep the car on track, and that's not even half the story). With these tips (and practising them !!) my laptimes now are down to the 1.51 - 1.52's. And i still have a lot of room for improvement ! Amazing..So a big thank you to Yorkie065 !

last time i played pc2, i have like no idea how to actually drive a race car. i always push pedals to the floor, always locking the brakes, never understood that warm tires are better (believe it or not i tried to keep it cool) in fact has no actual attempts to warm the tire. the result is me always oversteer the back end of my formula car, or have no absolute control in entering a corner

One thing that i just don’t get is how the heck do you do to make your car “stick” on the track that much, at the same amount of speed in a corner my car just tends to slide towards the outer edge of the corner, how do i fix that? More stiff dampers? Less front arb? Less front tire pressure? less preload? Or is it in my wheel settings as well?

I can't hit a curb at any speed without erratic behavior. Having real world experience, I know this is not how the car should respond. Does the console (xbone) version not "perform" as accurately as the pc platform?

If there is one thing I have a problem with VR is the lower resolution. My lap times are a second or so higher than when I used a monitor because I cannot find my braking and turning points as easily and as consistently as I was with the monitor. I don't mind the loss of resolution, just the loss in performance that comes with it. That said, there is no going back to monitors. -Ski
@turbokid976 жыл бұрын
find new markers if you need to that are seen in VR better. Not just the actual track marker. Some times you may have to watch your replays. But truly once you get better with VR. you start looking deep into apexs and corner exits some times like interlagos your head is turned almost max extension to find you exits. VR is the best. I cant wait for it to have higher res and FOV.
@thomasscheeringa5245 жыл бұрын
I might be a year late but you could go for a triple monitor setup, you’d be able to look to your sides while keeping the resolution (if you still struggle with said problem).

Have you got any Tips for driving the Porsche GT3R? I just cant get the right balance, I find it a handful at Monza with low DF and oversteer yet places like Oschersleben and Oulton Park I run high DF and fairly soft set up, it eats up the kerbs and is really nice. Can't get my head around it.
@Yorkie0655 жыл бұрын
You tried going soft for low DF tracks as well? I haven't really had too much experience with it, but do know it can be a bit of a handful. I do know that the default setup is also quite stiff, and you really need to drive it right to get the most out of it by being smooth off the corners.
@AJS865 жыл бұрын
@@Yorkie065 yeah Oulton Park and Long Beach etc such I run quite soft now. Softer springs then use harder Roll bar settings to adjust for how I want to drive it. Found tweaking the bump stop also helps with certain tracks. I do the rears 1 step lower on the bump stop just to aid that traction.

Quick reactions and avoiding those scenarios. It can be difficult to do as it is very much car dependent but generally when you get into the a situation where the car is starting to break loose, do the opposite of what caused the slide and turn into it. If you've gotten into the slide because of heavy braking, ease off the brakes and perhaps apply a little throttle. If you've gotten into a slide because you've used too much power then ease off. The amount of counter steer needed will come with experience but generally you'll be wanting to turn the wheels so they're pointing back in the direction you want to go. It's then just a matter of combining it all together and getting the timing right. Take a look at the 'Driving Historic / Classic Cars' Episode later on in the series to get a good idea of how to practice regaining control and making sure you maintain grip and balance.

Mr Yorkie.. I have an interesting question.. where have all the Aliens from PCars one gone? AOR is missing the BAM Kahki and SDL F1 Masa even Tony R and quite a few more to say the lease.. This is very interesting to me.. The guys that use to be 10-15 on the grid in AOR are now the fastest..
@Yorkie0656 жыл бұрын
A lot of them are still around, they just now do Esports which eats up all their time. From the three you mentioned, Kahki still races on Project CARS doing the ESL and other Esports tournaments on the game. Basically anything that has the money. F1 Masa has hoped over to iRacing and is doing a lot of stuff there with a sim racing team. As for Tony R, he's stopped sim racing for a while due to lack of time. He's tried to get back into it a couple of times, but is just too busy with work, social stuff, that he can't find the time to race anymore. The majority of others have gone to focus on Esports. Its where the money is, and the serious competition with all the fast guys have shifted to when moving away from leagues. They would do both if they could, but any time that they aren't practicing for Esports races, is time that they are losing to their competitors so they put all their focus into it to ensure they stay competitive.

Hey Yorkie. Do you have a link to what you use to look around inside the car? Thx again for a educational vid. 🤘
so if i'm going through a medium speed corner (i.e. Turn 3 at Catalunya) and smoke begins to appear out of the outside edge of the car (relative to the apex), does this mean I'm locking the tires up, or am I triggering the traction control? (in this example it's most likely the front left...as it's a right-turn corner. Also, I get understeer through the corner). I notice the smoke appearing when I begin to apply throttle to accelerate out of the corner, past the apex (or my best guess as to where the apex is for T3...such a long corner). what should I then do to remedy this?
@ChakibTsouli6 жыл бұрын
Hey Yorkie, can you please provide a link to the sensor you're using on your headset? Thanks

It's the TrackIR 5 with Track Clip Pro (the piece that attaches to the headset). You can buy them together in a bundle, but also can buy them separate. If you're buying them separate, you'll need a cap to place the other, not as good, sensor on.

My car keeps understeer and couldnt follow the racing line... When i brake hard my car wobble,if i go soft on brake i will miss the corner
@Yorkie0656 жыл бұрын
Car wobbling is probably the ABS kicking in, so brake hard enough to the point just before it reaches that. Make sure to get the car slowed down before turning in. Other than that, it just takes time and practice to find the right balance for the car in terms of feeling the grip and balancing the car perfectly.

Looks great, very helpful general tips. But it looks like your only giving it 90%, endurance racing consistency. Can you show us a full on qualifying lap, please? ;)
@Yorkie0656 жыл бұрын
I....don't really drive differently between quali and race, other than maybe brake 5-10 metres later in places and push the tyres a little more. Quali is one of my weaknesses, where I struggle to do one lap wonders, and instead go for 4-5 lap runs instead. But having said that, the key to getting a good lap is making sure you hook up every single corner and make every single apex. If you push so much that you're running deep, having to fight the car on entry and exit, you're throwing away time as the car isn't going to be where you want it to be, at the point of turn in or getting on throttle, and it will struggle to meet the demand. Some of the best quali laps can feel slow, and ultimately it is consistency that is going to win you races over outright pace when at the higher levels.
@sanscipher6 жыл бұрын
I agree, consistency is key. It just seems that when I'm on a hotlap, the car tries to break free and needs countersteer a lot more, may have to do with setup as well. I'm struggling a bit actually feeling the differences in setup and judging if the changes are better or not. Also may have to do with hardware setup. Which wheel are you using? I'm still running my well-aged Fanatec GT3RS, which tends to have some fading in power.

I've tried so many of these Euro race games and I suck so bad. I just don't get the feel for it. I've tried everything. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
@davidpardy2 жыл бұрын
Probably trying too hard. Your sense of speed in the game (in my experience) is considerably understated compared to driving in real life. I would suggest starting lapping really slowly, just try and get good lines through each corner, and then gradually try and speed up as you continue to lap. Start applying the normal techniques for braking and acceleration (and don't neglect trailbraking) as you build up speed. And remember "smooth is fast". I started off trying way too hard, accelerating and braking too hard, too late, etc., and it's taken probably longer to develop good technique than it would have if I'd just started off slowly.

Can anyone tell me , when I'm running down through the gears when braking, should I be holding the clutch in the whole time or should I be re ✌️applying the clutch for every gear I go down through? P.s. I love this channel I just started pc2 and it's really helped a slow noob like myself ty.
@patriciosestier51144 жыл бұрын
I reapply it, but I think you should check the heel & toe technique... It is hard but effective
@Yorkie0654 жыл бұрын
You should be re-applying the clutch between each gear, as it will give you extra braking power coming from the engine braking. If you hold the clutch in, you're purely relying on the brakes to slow you down.

I just go through a corner i dont brake or accelerate in the corner but for some reason the rear has no grip and i just lose control its like driving on ice
@Yorkie0656 жыл бұрын
It could be 2 things; 1- Taking too much speed into a corner. It bites you more in this game than others. 2- Engine Braking setting. You can adjust this in the cars setup, on the ECU and Engine section and for majority of cars, it is very aggressive an unsettles the car quite easily when shifting down through the gears. Putting it to a higher value will reduce its effect and make the car more stable, although it won't slow down the car as much when off throttle.
