EPISODE-1520-திருப்புகழை பிடிச்சுக்கோன்னது Turning Point- Singing Tirupugazh Was The Turning Point

Neyveli Sri Santhanagopalan, a leading Carnatic Music Vocalist , in one of his interviews, narrated his experiences.! One among them is this.. His wife's name is Smt Meera.. They were living at Chennai. When he was about to start his musical performer, he was staying in a portion, doesn't even had a phone facility!.From his family traditions, they were following Kanchi kamakoti peetam. His wife's family were knowing lots of ' Thirupugazh' . Although Santhana Gopalan knew some of them, he was not keen in singing them..He was chosen as a member for ' Thirupugazh Sabhai @ Vadapalani Murugar temple. Although eminent scholars like Sri Tanjore Sankara iyer were in that committee, Santhana Gopalan was asked to be there to represent, young people ( to represent young blood) on those days!! In the festivals @ the temple, prominent performers like Lalgudi G Jayaraman, DK Pattammal etc will be participating On those days they won't even spend in printing notices, just inform those artists. That's all. They will come & perform, he recollects.4 to 5 years would have passed by like this!! .One day. Mahaperiyava appeared in his dream( He says he never pray( ie ask) Periyava to appear in his dream) Periyava was sitting on a stage , that looked like , a place where ' Jasmine ' flowers are at one side and Periyava sitting nearby.." Aahaa Periyava " saying this NSGopalan did shashtanga namaskaram to Periyava...Immediately periyava, raising His hand says "திருப்புகழை பிடிச்சுக்கோ " . That dream got vanished then.. He took that as the ' direct upadhesam' from Periyava to him!! The result was, whenever he start singing a Thirupugazh say கைத்தல நிறைகனி அப்பமோடு அவல்பொரி ...even before completing that song itself, someone from hid opposite house would come & call him to attend a phone called by someone at their house!!... it will be a confirmation of a concert at a place or a foreign trip lije USA to sing etc...That will be a long trip to that place and an award like இசைப்பேரொளி will be given to him there!! His career became bright after this dream only, he recollects.!! He still remember that some problems that he faced in getting Visas at passport office were sorted out by officials like ' Muthukumar , some other time , Muthuswamy, Balasubramaniam etc all of them are ' Lord Muruga's Name'-JAYA JAYA SHANKARA HARA HARA SHANKARA SRI MAHAPERIYAVA PADHAME CHARANAM!!!
