Good example of measuring RPM with BBC:MICROBIT. Could you post in comments the Javascript code? Would be very helpful.

Great video, thanks! New viewers, if you're writing the code yourself by following the video, watch out that PXT/makecode no longer treats the division block as integer division, so you'll need to do this rounding down/quantisation of the current light level yourself. You can use the "floor" function (found in "math" as an option of the "round" block), or you can use the integer division function (found in "math" as an option of the "square root" block). If you follow the link to MicroMonsters' code, you'll see that it's already corrected to do integer division.

Very nice! How would you do it if you wanted to watch a kids bike wheel to see how fast they were going?

Very nice work and super helpful. thanks. Hey a suggestion. Substitute your rpm value into the frequency variable in the tone block and add a speaker! Might not be annoying. best tefman

That was extremely nerdy, and absolutely fascinating! How many hours did it take you to sort out the code?

In the JavaScript code, line 35 of the code doesn’t seem to be working for me. I’ve created the ‘lasttriggertime’ variable but it shows up saying that it’s an unknown or unidentifed variable. This means that when I try to flip back to blocks it say the code will not work and it can’t convert. Can you help?

Hi, did you copy the code by clicking edit on this link: makecode.microbit.org/15356-29310-37436-44268 line 35 in that link is: serial.writeValue("RPM", calculateCurrentRPM(lasttriggertime, currenttime)) and here that seems to work fine?
