We have both in the US. Jam is more of a fruit puree with a little structure, preserve, and Jelly has a gelatin and is giggly. Jam is the best. Im checking out your older videos.

I love comparing how words are used in the UK, Canada and the USA. Many of our Canadian words reflect our history with the UK, while others have been influenced by the states. In Canada jam is made with the whole fruit, jelly is made from just the juice.

FYI. Jelly is clear and see through, Jam is smashed fruit, and Preserves are pieces of fruit within the jelly. We have an expression when you see a voluptuous person over here that you might like : “That must be jelly, cuz jam don’t jiggle that way!” 🇺🇸
