Or, you could do some crochet surface slip stitch there. A different transition, but since it’s right in the middle, you could say it’s different due to firs half vs last half.

I had a quilt teacher tell me wise words when we both noticed a somewhat obvious error when everything was finished. She said, "mistakes in handmade items give it character and you will always have a little smile inside whenever you see it. You'll also remember the joy the memories surrounding this season of your life bring you."

The dividing line between June and July is the half way point in the blanket. I think by leaving it as it is, both sides of the blanket will have the same number of eyelet rows (5 on each half) and it should look balanced! As with most mistakes, I think you would be the only one to know about it! Love that your hair is getting longer!

The eyelet row you forgot is right in the center of the blanket, so it will still look symmetrical if you don’t go back and add it in. (Since it's only eight rows of garter, I would probably go back though.) So in other words, I'm no help, lol.

I too am a process knitter. I just want to get to the knitting. That being said I would not rip the temperature blanket. I would just continue where you left off. One person commented that it will make you smile when you look at the blanket. I don’t think that anyone who looks at the blanket would even notice. It is about half way finished. Of course it has to be your decision. I love your podcasts and hope you will continue to inspire us knitters. I always feel like I’m sitting across from you knitting with a friend. Enjoy your summer. Hopefully your patio is finished.

You must have been recording about the time I was running out to my car to get the windows up in my car. Luckily, it was just outside the back door. All your projects are great. I'd leave the temp blanket and you forgot at a good time - halfway through the year - so I say just leave it. It will be fine. The look on your face when you realized it was priceless. The socks are wonderful. I love that speckled RW&B yarn. And that cross stitch ornament is very classic. Lily's sweater is going to be so pretty. I've been inspired to do some embroidery myself. I bought some muslin bags for my knitting and want to embroidery some designs on them.

The prayer shawl is so pretty, Kay. It will wrap the recipient in the hug she will need as she goes through her difficult time. Ohhhh I HATE when I find a mistake in a project I'm caught up in! I'm one that it will bother me and jump into my vision every time I look at it...but that's me. You do you! Whatever you choose, your blanket is gorgeous-both of them you showed today are. Love all your Patriotic socks-the thin stripes on the first ones you showed look so good! I think I'm gonna give that a try on my next scrappy socks. Right now I have SO many pairs on needles it's almost embarrassing....then didn't I bump my head and start Stephen West's Sock MKAL....I love it but one more pair in progress is NOT what I need! I get too distracted by all the shiny new patterns and what have you I guess. Swatches and knitting math....ugh.....I'd rather be knitting the project. Naughty I know. I hope the rain stops so they can get your patio done-it's so frustrating when weather doesn't cooperate for outdoor projects. Fingers crossed this week the sun will shine!!!

Ripping the blanket back would be a great opportunity for a tutorial on how you would do it - I never know if you're best to put an afterthought lifeline through, put another set of needles through or just frog and hope you can catch the stitches! I'd probably tink back every stitch just because I'm terrified of ripping back but that would take forever!!

Do NOT rip back on your temperature blanket. Put the eyelet row in now, on day 7. Won't be that far off. An extra day in July anyway, and if it were leap year, you'd be even closer. Won't be that noticeable when the blanket is complete. Love your term "Yarn Dungeon"! My guest room holds a lot of yarn as well. Good Luck with the Patio!

I did knit a temperature blanket a years ago, and mine too had a neutral color of yarn to separate each month. In fact, a couple times I forgot to add the neutral yarn. I unraveled a good weeks worth each time to correct the error, and I’m glad I did. I tend to get annoyed with those kind of mistakes. It’s only a moment in time to repair but the finished look will always be enjoyed. StitchedbyMimi P.S. But you do you!

Hello from Mounds, Illinois. I just glad that I am not the only one that makes that kind of mistake. I probably would not rip it out but consider it part of the design. I know how you feel, I need to have my deck stained but it keeps raining so they can’t stain wet wood. Then my neighbor shed caught fire and melted the siding on my house and they have no insurance so I had to call my insurance company and am waiting on them to replace my siding. I have vinyl siding and trying to match it is the problem.

Because the eyelet row between June and July marks the halfway point of the year, would you be comfortable taking a small crochet hook and picking up stitches across of the row (slip stitch or sc) where the eyelet would have been to mark that halfway point? Of course, then you have to decide if that slight textured ridge is going to throw off the flow of the blanket. (My suggestions are basically me thinking out loud, which is what I would do if I was in your place. And would probably end up tinking back. 😑) Btw - loved the dramatic music with your facial expression. Nice touch. 😊 one of the many things I love about your podcast. You’re genuine.

Great podcast again, Kay, and I loved every minute. As for the blanket, if you can live with it, that’s fine. No one else will notice! The Persians always weaved a mistake in their carpets because only God is perfect, so there’s definitely a precedent, and a friend recently told me that there has to be a mistake so that your soul can leave the project when you’ve finished. Works for me, too 😊

I would just add the eyelet row a few days late! That way you will know when it's July(ish) a couple days late wouldn't bother me if it was mine!! Then if you forget again you have a plan and all the months are represented! Months are different lengths so it wouldn't change the look of the blanket much!
@shelleyfry
@shelleyfry Жыл бұрын
There’s great symmetry with absence of eyelets as it’s the middle of the blanket. I’m assuming there’s no eyelets at the start, and there will be none at the end, so in my head it works out - and regardless, it will be a really easy way to quickly identify the middle of the year. But it has to be right for you and your brain. It’s very cool though. As are all the other items you’ve been working on.
@shellygrimsley7809
@shellygrimsley7809 Жыл бұрын
If you had to accidentally forget any eyelet transition row on your temperature blanket you actually couldn’t have chosen a better spot if you had done it on purpose! The end of June was the end of the 6 month mark and July the beginning of the next 6 month mark so you’ve just created a double wide section in the very middle of your blanket that will probably look intentional! 😁

Girl it’s your blanket. You will be the one using it. If it doesn’t bother you that the eyelet row isn’t there for that one divider don’t worry about it. Just keep going and be happy with your beautiful blanket. And if you decide you want to rip back to put the eyelet row in then that’s ok too. 😊

Stephieknit’s husband. My two cents worth: keep going, the temp blanket will still be symmetrical. No need to go back. Also when folded in half, it won’t be on delicate loops. Almost like you did it on purpose:)

Skipping rows in your blanket I would call “summer skipping” 😂🎉 definitely not going back to reknit

My OCD self would want to rip back and add the transposition, however the part of me that says keep it stress-free says just leave it since you're the only one who will know

Good to see you! I know you don't want to hear it, but I would fix the temperature blanket :) June/July is right in the middle. I may not initially think it a big deal but it would likely bug me. Regardless of what you do, your blanket is turning out very lovely.

At first I thought fix it! Then I had another thought, leave it. It is the half-way mark! Bottom line, it is yours. If it will always bother you to have not make the eyelet row, go back. If it won't be something that you always see negatively, leave it. Hope it's not raining and they are pouring concrete.

Fix it! It’s so beautiful, I think you will regret if you don’t. You caught it pretty early 🤪

If it were me, I would rip the temperature blanket back and put in the eyelets just because I would know and it would bug me every time I used it. But if you can live with it and not be bothered, I think it will look fine because it will be the middle of the blanket.

If the missed rows would bother you as much as it would me every time I looked at it, frog. I watch on my tv and the lighting before you adjusted was perfect for me. I could read labels clearly. Once adjusted the labels and closeups were blown out. Ran into Joanne's yesterday and Halloween and fall displays were up. Crazy.

Can you drop down and add some sort of makeshift eyelets? IDK if it would work but at least you wouldn’t have to rip back? Also, I LOVE the idea of a prayer shawl!!! I’m probably going to start one now...
