Episode 2 - 250 Box Challenge | Learning how to draw with Draw A Box | Official Critique & Progress

I actually lost count of the days I spent on this challenge, sorry for the delay on this video and hope you don't mind the long video (adjust the speed if you want)! Here are a couple of questions i'm wondering about... Can we use a ruler or do we have to freehand when hatching the panels? is there a way to estimate dramatic foreshortening without pointing on paper?

@@SpottedJournal actually I'm doing it right now Made it around halfway in 250 boxes. What about you tho? Are you still doing draw-a-box?

I haven't given up that's for sure! I was half way through textures before I gave birth and I will be getting back into it very soon. Also because of my break I wonder whether I need to restart the whole thing to get critiqued again.. either way I will still continue with it 🤗

Hello! Episode 3 is on hold at the moment but I will definitely be going back on it. Life has been been hectic with baby and work. But thanks for your comment. I will be coming back with episode 3 at some point. Do you draw too?

@kultuk I will be! I found when I was doing this course I didn't know what I was drawing for and what I was trying to say visually. Drawing for fun wasn't enough and wanted to have more purpose. So that's what I'm discovering right now, once I've completed a few experimental projects I will get back on to it as I do want to get better in my draftmanship skills.

So apparently a ruler is not allowed for the hatching. It’s not stated anywhere but yeah it’s not supposed to be used in hatching.

@@SpottedJournal I know right I figured it out by getting through 160 boxes and then when I posted my work the teaching assistants said rulers are not allowed for hatching. But yeah it’s not implied you can’t use it anywhere

He said it in the lesson of the first 50 boxes to not to be sloppy with your hatching lines from which I understand that you should not use a rule 😂
