Also your non hosting friends will surprise you someday by picking up the tab sometime after a nice meal, or doing something else for you that is equally as thoughtful that works within their skill set. Everything evens out eventually so invite them over, and over and enjoy, and trust time work it's magic! Agree with Alison's comment:- Ask something like: May I count on you to bring the wine? (- but only if you think they have the financial means to do so)

Providing care can be a thankless job, but I feel like hosting is always appreciated. People host or are hosted so little nowadays that when they are they look on the host with awe and gratitude for doing what they might never do. And yes, hosting is a form of control. Thanks for bringing that up. Real food for thought for me.

That’s a great idea! I also had thoughts about the egg yolks question. Homemade mayo and Caesar dressing. And Ree Drummond/The Pioneer Woman has a great recipe for a chocolate pie that uses 4 egg yolks. Also, maybe carbonara? I've never tried to make it but I think it uses egg yolks?

Question one is my main social question this year. I host monthly events and invite new friends but I still haven't been to the houses of anyone I've met within the past five years. I wish it could lead to more than just the events but I'm starting to accept that other people just don't like playing hostesses as much as I do.

I love hosting and being in control of all aspects so I never expect anything in return but I’ve been in the situation where friends have felt obligated to host me when they don’t like cooking and don’t have a good space for hosting. Its just not a good experience for anyone. Like to the point where I don’t even want to host them anymore because I don’t want them to host me out of obligation.

Can we please have home movies back? Alison's food content was already so good and we're all for additional revenue and content streams for creators but this seems so out of place though 😢 Haven't watched any new Home Movies in so long and we fear there will be none of that anymore 😢
