‘Striking out’ is a complex phrase because some of those with a bowling background would assume it is a good thing, like I had thought. But you used the phrase with the baseball connotation. I really had no idea what you meant when you mentioning ‘striking out on the kale’ you wanted. Luckily, with the context and further progression of the video I understood that you were using the baseball strike in your reference… you did not hold any kale the entire video. I am just letting you know that when you use these phrases you should keep in mind the audience that you are speaking to and the wide misinterpretations that come with the phrases you use.

I think this might be the MOST 'fail-safe' carbonara video I've watched. It is in fact so fail-safe that I'm in the process of making it right now (with pancetta as you basically can't find guanciale in alaska). Wish me luck as the last time I tried to do a carbonara the damn eggs scrambled ugh. Okay so I followed your methodology here and eyeballed the number of eggs/amount of pasta water for making 1.5 packages of spaghetti and OH MY GOD IT CAME OUT PERFECT. You made my day because now I can make carbonara more often and it's EASY!!! Thank you soooooo much.

When I was a kid I took a cooking course and we added layers of thinly sliced hard-boiled eggs to our lasagna, which also had Italian sausage. The egg yolks added a wonderful richness. I still put hard-boiled egg slices in my lasagna today.

You should cover the clams. You put the pasta into water that was not boiling.

You're right, Alison. It DOES make sense for a company that makes butter to also sell buttermilk!! AND YET my grocery store sells only ONE BRAND and it's so unbelievably THIck and it makes no sense and it's so frustrating!!!

I made this for a dinner party tonight to the letter and it was perfection. And yes, it’s 375 for both bakes with foil on and off. It’s food. Don’t take it too seriously. We are fans from Vietnam!

1/1/2025 - made this for New Year's Eve Party....... with black-eyed peas and homemade mac-n-cheese...... for a crowd....with lots of mustards, pickles...etc.................. my husband today..... asked me nicely......to NEVER ruin a ham with fennel and red pepper again! I liked it, but he really, really disliked it...........he wants traditional apricot jelly/brown sugar/cloves/mustard on his ham, please.......... really, Alison..... I love your food..... but this one totally didn't work for my family, not your fault!
