Left a couple of important steps out of the video, like how important it is fitting the sensor bush with the white one on top and that you may have to grind the shaft, and also the fact of cutting the dust cover to it fits properly. Just a bit weird how you showed us picking up side cutters and cutting a cable tie in such detail but not the little tricks that are actually really important. Didn’t show us the whole job.

Jake Kovacevic I believe that the steps you mentioned are necessary when installing the Pertronix with hall effect. These guys installed the LS model (lobe sensing) and it does not require grinding the shaft or modifying the dust cover.

Are lobe sensing petronix ignitions as unreliable as people say they're compared to the hall effect? I want to install a lobe sensing one as you don't need to grind down anything on the distributor to fit. Has there been any issues since installing this since?

Hi, Look yes they are very hit and miss and we have since stopped selling the Lobe Sensing units for this issue. It worked fine on our Patrol and a few we have installed and sold, but we have also had issues with some here in the shop. Its not the Pertronix itself, its simply too much wear on the distributor shaft and not enabling the trigger on the module to fire the coil properly. You will need to remove the distributor and grind out the shaft in order for the magnet to fit properly, hence why Pertonix made the Lobe Sensing unit. When we get some spare time, we will be doing another install video on how to install an Ignitor II unit which shows the distributor shaft modification.

Can you fix the name of the video to "Pertronix" NOT "Pertonix"?

which pertronix unit do you use for the tb42? 1762LS or 1761?
@recarbaustralia5772 Жыл бұрын
Hello. Both units are popular. The 1762LS is easier to install and has thousands of them running world wide with no problems; BUT it will add an extra risk of bad/weak signal. Some have reported this happen and we have experienced a bad one with our customers. Having said that, EVERY automotive part and product on the market is not immune to faults. I have fitted the 1761 to my personal Patrol, as I don't have a problem with grinding the collar down to fit it.

I've seen a few people install these and require cutting the dust cover for the petronix to fit, so this isn't required?
