Episode 2 of the RUMO series: Artisanal Fishing in Foz do Rio Itajaí-Açu

This is Episode 2 of the RUMO series: An Audiovisual Diagnosis of Foz do Rio Itajaí-Açu, produced in the first phase of the RUMO Project, carried out from 2020 to 2023. The RUMO Project team visited the municipalities of Itajaí, Navegantes, Balneário Camboriú and Penha , interviewing people, recording images of activities carried out in the territory and the sectors that operate in Foz.
In this episode you learn about stories and characters that are part of Artisanal Fishing at the Foz do Rio Itajaí-Açu. We spoke to fishermen and fisherwomen from Itajaí, Navegantes, Penha and Balneário Camboriú. According to data from the Fishing Activity Monitoring Program - PMAP, half of the fishing recorded in Santa Catarina is carried out by artisanal fishermen; and almost half of all shrimp caught by hand in the state comes from Foz, especially from the four municipalities studied by Projeto RUMO.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The RUMO Project is a mitigation measure required by Federal Environmental Licensing, conducted by IBAMA, for the production of oil from the Baúna Field, located in the Santos Basin, under the responsibility of the Australian company Karoon Energy.
