Just started watching. Very cool. When I saw all that clay my brain went... "He could make bricks!" For what purpose.... I have no idea

@@poppalee I have been trying to make bricks and tiles but they tend to explode when I try and fire them but it's a continuing endeavor.

Hi lex , look forward to the concrete reveal. That clay looks sticky. Teflon coated shovel comes to mind.

Making good steady progress, thanks for the update, I look forward to it. Just wondering if you could use the power auger to drill down multiple small holes first, to make the shovel digging a lot easier. The auger seemed to work nicely for your side holes to take the rebar.
@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild6 ай бұрын
I might give that a go at some stage. My only concern is burning out the drill since it gets very hot when using the auger.

100mm a week is good going for a part-time bunker digger. It will be good when we're all making millions when our videos go viral...

LOL wouldn't that be the dream. In the meantime I'll just keep chipping away at it. I have to remind myself I've only been doing this for 4 months so not bad progress all things considered.

Getting rid of the spoil must be a headache. Where are you tipping yours?
@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild6 ай бұрын
It isn't a headache yet . . . Managing to use it around my section. It will become a headache though when I run out of places to use it.

Question for you Lex. I saw your sump pipe. Is that for collecting water coming up from the ground or down from above? I'm in a below the water table situation and working a crazy idea to dewater my hole just for construction.
@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild6 ай бұрын
In my case the water is trickling down from above when it rains. I have done some work outside my workshop to reduce the amount of rain that finds its way inside the hole and it has made a huge difference. I'm very interested in your crazy idea 🙂 . . .

My plan is to over dig by a couple of feet and install a massive sump that should lower my water table in the immediate area. After construction, the sump can be turned off and allow the water table to return to normal. The only downside, my concrete floor will need to be 12" thick so it doesn't float.... Ouch!$$$$
@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild6 ай бұрын
@@jagboy69 sounds like that could work. The sump can then be a water tank when you're done.
