For the Clover Bamboo DPNs, my mother and I have both had a similar issue with them not being pointy enough, and we e had cats get their teeth into them. A fine emery board will smooth out any snags from cat teeth or make them pointier to meet your preference. Bonus points that the emery board is nice to have for fingernail snags also.

While i knit with hiyahiya sharps even my points may not cut it.. i often use a 2mm needle to pick up stitches. Knitting with the actual needed size. While it has no influence on the knitted stitch size picking up is so much easier. I just pick up a bunch an knit them and repeat the process.

This past week I used a fine grit finishing nail file/buffer to chisel the tips on a set of clover/takumi dpns and it worked great.

I find doing my socks on different needles helps to give my hands a rest, but I am still knitting. I currently have one pair on magic loop another pair on 9 inch circulars. I also switch from knitting continental to knitting English style, my gauge stays the same, because I am a tight knitter. I actually have to go up a needle size when knitting 9 inch or my socks are tight.😂

I love your story about the KY Wildcat socks-I bet he never expected you to knit him a pair. Hopefully they brought his team a win! The baby blanket is amazing! If I had 2 skeins of Mandala instead of 1 each of a few colors (that don't go together), I'd be tempted. Always nice to have a baby blanket or 2 tucked away for gifts. Ohhh my gosh, Kay, Wyatt's sweater is jaw dropping....all those cables! Can I tell you how many times I'd be ripping that back because I messed up crossing something? A LOT! You're not alone in non-spring weather. We got teased last weekend with 60 degree days, now we're back into the deep freeze. Typical New England-wait 5 minutes and Mother Nature either turns up the thermostat or clicks on the AC!

I use a crochet hook to pick up stitches. I put a needle stopper on the back end of the hook, and then remove it to transfer the stitches to the needle. When I do this, my stitches end up “open” so I knit thru the back loop to get them back in order. 😃

Mandala is great for baby gear. I love making blankets out of it. Also great for kid's hats, since they probably lose them anyway. Yes, you are a true Midwesterner now. If you are talking about the wind, it's a definite thing. Soon it will be nice. Have a great week!

When I need a sharper point on bamboo needles, sandpaper works great. I use a fine grit & lightly run the point over it lengthwise til I can feel the point is sharper. Works well for me & doesn’t damage the needles at all.

Hi Kay! I agree with you on this crazy weather, but I am right in the middle of the next snowstorm! ⛄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ Luckily my neighbor filled my bird feeders yesterday. It’s so hard for them at this time of the year. The snows is so wet and heavy. It coats all of their natural sources for food. Love your projects, complete and in progress. Now I have to make a baby blanket. I don’t have any babies coming in my family and friends so I think I will have to donate it. Enjoy your weekend.

I've made a couple of those blankets. The pattern I used was called Supernova, I think....but they're essentially the exact same pattern! Very cute and simple to make up in a relatively short time!

I love Karbonz by Knitters Pride dpns. They have great points, and they are slippery like metal needles. Also, thanks for the heads up regarding Signature Needle Arts. I was able to get a few pairs of stiletto point needles, and also a circular for socks for when I want to do magic loop. I love them.😊

I tend to be on my way into work when the new episodes pop up, if my hands are working that day I'll have a project with me for the commute. Otherwise I just sit back and enjoy the watch and maybe setup my alarms and schedules for the week ahead. Always appreciate the inspiration to just look for 30 minutes of dedicated making.

The one week I get behind on podcasts and didnt watch last week's until yesterday after the winner was drawn 😕 The weather has been so awful 🥶 my son's baseball season just started and we spent the last two evenings out in the cold watching baseball games. Wouldn't miss them for the world, but man it was soooo cold and windy (and totally with you on the midwestern "if it wasn't for the wind...") About how many minis fo you have in each strip of the fingering weight jelly roll? Im starting a birthday "advent" and trying to decide what project to do with my collection of 10g minis

Not sure how many minis are in a strip. I just did the first one until it was long enough and since I’m using scraps some aren’t the same size as others and that means not all strips have the same amount of scraps in them.

my gauge on 9" circulars is looser if i'm using small diameter needles (eg for fingering weight) but it's actually tighter than my regular gauge for DK weight and above needles. it's a bit annoying, but I think if I try and match my regular gauge I end up overthinking it and have a lot of variation in my tension so I'm better off just going with what my hands naturally want to do and just adjusting my needle size.

Hi Kay, love your channel! I'm following your modifications for the Jelly Roll pattern, and now I'm at the end of my first strip. I can't figure out how to bind off! Kay Jones has a bind off in the pattern, but I can't figure out what to do with the yarn on the first stitch! Hope you see this and can help!!

I don’t have instructions for how to do the pattern listed on my project page. Just notes on the changes I made. I always think the designer deserves the purchase and credit because that is not my design. And you may like how she does things better. I’ve just made changes to do it in a way that works for me.

I machine was and dry. Most delicate, low heat cycles my machines will do.
