Yay! Got to hear Gareth's talk on Catherine at the recent Harvington History Festival. He gave a really engaging presentation, both funny and in parts, horrifying. His book on Catherine is a must-read.

@@OntheTudorTrail I bought his book on The Palace. I'm reading Estelle Paranque's Blood Fire And Gold at the mo (also fabulous) and the Palace is next on my list. Going to need a bigger bookcase!

Always love to hear Gareth Russell speak about whatever topic he has written about! I am curious as to why the Dowager Duchess didn't let Mannox (sp?) go after she caught him and Catherine kissing that time. She boxed Catherine on the ears, I think, but doesn't seem to have reprimanded him. Just curious...Thank you!!

Thank you ever so much , thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s so right that many people of today try to put our standards towards the Tudors ( or any other times in history), it doesn’t work ( I don’t think history will judge us very kindly either) . I’ll be truthful, I’ve never taken much notice of poor Catherine Howard. However, I do judge her ( not quite the correct word there) better than I do Jane Seymour! I’ve just never been a fan of Jane. She most certainly was not the ‘milksop’ ( other writers word, not mine) people think she was. I think she was ruthless , clever in playing a part and quite cunning. Makes me sound not very nice so I apologise but it’s what I feel. If Jane had t had a son and hadn’t died , she would be a forgotten footnote in history. Thank you once again 🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺

I feel sorry for Catherine Howard, but she did behave very foolishly.
