Oh your Starflake looks so good! Well done. I love that you've increased to 15 rounds of rib for the cuff - we'll see you knitting 20 rounds in no time! 🤣 And you should absolutely go up a needle size for SW shawls - I do for almost all of them now and I never run out of yarn.

finished the second half now so second comment. I am a newish knitter, 3 pairs of socks under my belt, two more on the needles. I wanted to try every technique, started with magic loop, liked that, then for pair 3 tried the 9" circular and I am hooked! Love it! What is it with knitting socks that is so .... wonderful! just love it! Happy upcoming birthday, I just turned 60 and it doesn't seem possible. I am still waiting to feel like a grown up!

Have you ever tried 12”? Those are my go to needles. I do a knit round after cast on to make joining easier and then start my ribbing. And I use flexi flips for the toes. Highly recommend trying I love the chiaogoo or addi needles.

Hi Lisa, I knit magic loop socks in the movie theater. I just did this on Sunday to see despicable me 4. It was quite cute. I don’t rib or do the heel there but plain stockinette works great. Your hands know what to do. You can feel the first stitch on the left hand to begin the round on each needle and you’re off! I too love self striping and your monster scrappy socks look great. I’ve only done one pair like that and it was so fun to have unique stripes all the way down!

I really enjoy your podcast Sometimes I knit other times I crochet when watching your podcast it's winter here and I am looking forward to spring but not summer 😅 I am so grateful that my girls have a school uniform and we don't have to worry about what to wear for school 😂 My heart goes out to you clothes shopping with teenage girls I have some and I gave up giving suggestions or opinions

I don’t knit in the theater (probably because I don’t go to the theater lol). I do get thumb pain from 9” circulars when making socks…but I just can’t get the hang of magic loop. Ladders galore and it takes the joy out. So I deal with it.

I love doing 9in. needles in the theater, but also, bringing a Musselburgh that the increases are finished on, you can just motor on that stockinette. :)

Hi glad to see you. I have pumpkin spice in fort Walton Beach Florida. I guess we are trying anything to cool off (104) hot pumpkin spice coffee should do it. Working on fall projects, socks and x stitch pumpkins. Coming to michigan in November. Love to see your socks. I only made 12 pairs for camp.

Good morning Lisa. As a suggestion regarding mohair, it is a very nice yarn and extremely nice the way it feels, but as you stated that you didn't like it. And that's alright. It's somewhat sticky held together with a sock yarn. So to say you might want to use it you might want to swatch a square for yourself. If you knit with it in a project and find out you just don't prefer the way it feels, I wouldn't consider using it. So nice to hear you had a weekend alone for yourself. Not everyone has that kind of solo experience too often. Small talk and I can dwell upon an extreme introvert like myself and absolutely rub me the wrong way. Family does not matter all the time with me. Prayers for fall, prayers for everyone's stash, prayers for rain ☔ 🌧️

Hi Lisa! I saw the new Deadpool movie with my son over the weekend and loved it, hope you enjoyed it too! I took my Musselburgh with me on 16” circs and got a lot of knitting done at the cinema. I usually take vanilla socks but don’t have any on the needles at the moment, both pairs I have are patterned. I first learned to knit without looking by taking magic loop vanilla socks to the cinemas when the boys were younger and we went each school holidays together. These days, I’m more likely to use a 9” circ for movie knitting as I’ve gotten used to them, but could really do either.

My teenage son bought some sort of adapter to play his Spotify in our minivan that only had a CD player and radio. He ordered it on Amazon. It might change your life! I'll ask him what it is called. Now, I always knit and sip coffee while watching your podcast.

Lisa! The best part of my Monday. I always go up a needle size on the MKAL too because I'm also a tight knitter. I also always have a ton of yarn leftover. Usually so much that I end up modifying the final part to add even more than he suggests. Big shawls and using up more yarn is a win-win.

Hello Lisa. If you're skeptical and say you don't like knitting with mohair, I would go with that. It appears in this podcast that you might consider it. For one thing knitting with mohair and a sock weight yarn can get sticky and coarse. I would knit a square swatch and see if you like it. It would be terrible if you started the project and didn't like what was going on. 😮

Good morning Lisa! I think you would be fine if you go up to a size 5 needle. I could be wrong but I think you actually use less yarn when you go up a needle size because you have bigger holes. If you are a tight knitter and always have extra yarn you should be fine either way. Have a great day. Also, I do magic loop everywhere I go…. Movies, hockey games, etc.

Mohair is lace weight. You might be able to just eliminate altogether. Lace plus fingering is equal to sport weight. Two fingerings might be too thick.
