Just listened to a talk about witch trials in connecticut. one of the learned individuals mentioned in the discussion was a doctor who in order to take care of a wound that wouldn't heal, treated the sword. folk magic was a true belief

Mathas says he compiled the story from various people's writings. I wonder if when the investigator and doctor arrive at the farm and don't see anything, that's their own telling of the story, and when they later get humiliated by the ghost that's the family's made up story.
