@@JenIsHungry True, she seemed nice enough, but her lack of concern and neglect indicates she in incapable of caring for another living thing. At the end of the day, her actions lead to their suffering, which is unacceptable in my book. She's clearly sick, but again, she should be prohibited from owning animals unless she can change. All they have is her, and we see the results. If it were me, I'd have called RSPCA as soon as I learnt of their condition. Brian From The Rebellion Depression is indeed a mental illness, however simply Being Depressed is not. you can be depressed without having depression, the difference is whether it’s chronic, induced by environmental factors (ie death of loved ones), or true clinical depression which is a hormone imbalance. people often describe being depressed as simply sad but it’s so much further than that. this woman was depressed for quite a while, however it’s quite possible that before the death of her family she did not have depression.

Lauryn Iti extreme sadness is being depressed. you can be depressed and not have depression. for example if a loved one passes you can be depressed, but it is temporary and caused by grief and not clinically by say a hormone imbalance. people diagnosed with clinical depression have hormone issues that cause it, while people that are just depressed don’t have that hormone deficiency. simply being depressed is environmental while having depression is clinical.

Most people who have never experienced depression will never understand it no matter how much you try to explain it to them. To them it's just a mood swing. As a person suffering of depression myself, i have tried explaining it, but now i just keep quiet and keep it inside, it is a waste of my energy and stress for my already fragile nervous system... and being ridiculed by people i have considered to be my friends for years is too painful to bear. I find more joy and humanity and empathy in the company of sad people just like me than in the company of people who find life easy and joyful.
@waleedabdulrab87795 жыл бұрын
@@SpiritDragoness I don't think that's very healthy. Receiving your joy from the company of sad people? I mean, how is that even possible? If you mean, pleasure from being understood by someone who feels similar as you, than yeah, I see your point. But we humans have these things in our bodies called mirror neurons, which pretty much mean we feel what we see and observe, like if I witnessed someone who chopped their arm off, I'd probably grab my arm like "Ahh that looks like it hurts". So naturally, if you're around other joyous people, the simple glance at another person smiling is enough to lift the spirits a little. All I'm saying is you can't derive happiness from other people being sad along with you. I think you mean you feel more contentment with other sad people because you feel understood, doesn't necessarily make you more happy, but just satisfied in knowing that you aren't alone in feeling the way you do.

I volunteered at a shelter for a while, and I never understood how people could give up on their beloved pets... it made me angry just thinking about it. In the files I've read some of the weirdest reasons for giving up ownership. But then one day when I left after my shift, I saw a woman walking out with an empty carrier. She had just given up ownership of a pet, and again it made me feel angry- because in my eyes she had just abandoned her pet. I watched her walk to her car, and as soon as she closed the car door she broke down crying. It was that moment that made me understand that sometimes, giving up ownership is the biggest act of love. It's not always for selfish reasons. If you can't take care of your pet anymore, for whatever reason, sometimes it's the best thing you can offer even if it hurts to lose them.
@LittleSparklingStars4 жыл бұрын
Wistaire giving up a pet is sometimes the best you can do. Some people leave their pets in terrible circumstances like these or even just let them loose and abandon them. The people returning them to the shelter are really strong. It’s painful but it’s the best you can do.

I had to give up one of my dogs because he was constantly picking fights with my other dogs. No matter what we did, they fought. We didn't want him to stay in one room for the rest of his life, so we surrendered him. He's a good dog, he just couldn't be in a home with other dogs. When my fiance and I first moved in together we tried adopting a puppy but because of some money desperation we ended up with a roommate that had really bad anger issues and we had no way to get out of the situation so we gave the puppy back. There are few days I've cried more than that day but I got some closure because the woman who adopted him after me came into the store I worked at and I got to see him and she told me that he had a new German Shepherd brother and they were moving to Washington so I got to know that he was going to have a better life than I could give him. 4 years later, and my fiance and I have our own house, 2 rescue cats, and a sweet American Bully puppy ❤

@Riahmoemoe985 жыл бұрын
But at the same time nobody spoke up, nobody stood up for those cats, they are wonderful with their judgment and their whole hearted work but they should have stood up and did it themselves if they were that concerned. Show her that there IS a problem and it cannot be pushed aside. That is another misconception with depression, it affects you mentally, and physically, you have to force the person to listen. When I get depressed my tiny room is a mess, I live in a camper, so depression hoarding and a camper equals a huge mess, I didnt clean my room until I had a huge blow out with my mom, I literally took clothes out of my room, threw away ripped and small clothes, I changed my sheets, made my bed, even sprayed it with water. Lemon, and mint. I cleaned my ps4, I cleaned out my cabinet space, I swept the floors broom and vacuum. Depression is not just some soft thing you can just say "hey quit doing that" you need to explain, guide and help a person with depression. Spend a week with someone who has this severe amount of depression and you will understand why your point is not fair on this woman. You arent wrong, she should have took charge. But again she lived in this for 8 years due to depression,if you watch hoarders they never realize how serious it is until someone comes in and makes demands and changes that even overwhelm them. Like the man in a later episode who had 2 strokes and there was McDonalds bags, piled up dishes, dirt, dander, bugs, old food, new food and so on. He was so stressed that he didnt clean one thing. It's not just being lazy, its having no one to guide and help you, yes it is your mess but 2 strokes and a whole home to clean up by yourself? I would love to do this for people because I know personally what it is like to live in your own filth, your own sorrow. It is hard, and they need help and kindness and authority to make them see that something IS absolutely wrong.

All those hoarding shows focus on the hoarder and their families. This is from the side of the cleaners, which I definitely prefer. It really depends on the person. Every individual varies. I’ve know people who are very lazy and well off and couldn’t be bothered to keep a clean house. I on the other hand have gone thru some very difficult times of severe depression and did not care to keep everything tip top clean. I’ve also worked hard labor and construction jobs. I’m not lazy. Depression is a disease and the lady in this video most certainly had to deal with something catastrophic and traumatic and could not cope during a long period of time. @@vagrantdancer3880 I whole heartedly disagree. Look at the bigger picture. Do they want to be fat? Do they want to live that way? And where do we get our character? We don't all of a sudden turn into an adult and just automatically know what's right. Being overweight is almost always psychological. Have some empathy. I'm not saying people should not be accountable for their choices. They do no matter whether there are issues or not. The issues show a reason but are not an excuse. Hoarders are NOT lazy. No one in their right mind would want to live that way. And when I say right mind, I mean it. There is something psychologically wrong. You know better so are looking at it from your point of view. You were taught different. You may not have or have the type of psychological problems. Think like them not like how you would behave. It's sad. They know it is wrong, they are embarrassed but just can't seem to get it together. That would be a horrible feeling. Or if they are like you said and just don't care.....still sad bc they don't care enough about themselves to be well. Or don't know how to be.

My face shaved. My nails trimmed. My teeth brushed. Peace and quiet in the house!!! What more could I want? What more could I need? An MRI, a CT, a PET scan??? No, let me do it in my own time! My own way! BUT most of all: LEAVE ME ALONE!!! THANK-YOU!!!

Out here, if the owners make the effort to clean the house and seek vet care they can keep their pets if their get caught in situations like this. She's done 1 of 2. But I know animal regulations aren't even state regulated, it's all county by county and heavily dependent on the local DA.

when i first moved in with my late husband after being in a different country his house was like that, the first day i walked in i was in total shock. he had battled cancer treatments, very stressful jobs and overall depression before i moved in, and right the next day i started cleaning. Took me 2 months, from starting to pick up all the trash everywhere, to emptying the whole house, getting the carpets and vents and everything cleaned out, new appliances and eventually new furniture etc, the house looked brand new again and you could see in his face just how much weight had been lifted off his shoulders, just by having a clean house to come home to and someone to cheer him up. I can understand the feeling you guys get from helping people like this lady, and honestly that is one of the reason i like helping people out so much, just to see them smile a bit again. If i lived near you guys id be volunteering to help out too! Thank you for all the amazing work you guys do. Its hard but so satisfying. Thank you!

But i have to say that pets are a tremendous comfort to many people. Things happen for various reasons and what started out as a good thing turns into a bad thing. you need to call SPCA for some of these cases..don't let her leave the animals like that, you might think it's not your place to call animal control but if you will not help who will.. i've called the humane society many times on things I see and they take my name and respond to the complaint...they told me it was confidential and the person never find out who makes the complaints

I couldnt agree more...those cats shouldnt be in her care. It's sad, I'm sorry she's depressed, but an animals well being shouldnt suffer because of it...those animals shouldve been removed. Period.
@CosmicBeingCatt5 жыл бұрын
@Austin T. you can make anonymous calls though. No one has to know it's coming from those people, even though it would be obvious in this case. All that would have to be done is to remove the animal, so it can be taken care of. A loving sentient is a loving sentient no matter the species, they deserved better. Depression takes a toll, but we still must have a sense of insight to admit when we are too unwell or unfit to care for another being. I know I did. I didnt want to hand over your baby, but i wasnt well...he needed to be loved better. So made sure of it.

Exactly now before I say anything I'm diagnosed with major depressive disorder and I have days where I don't want to move or wake up and get ready for the day but I still take care of my cat, many people get dogs, cats, and many other animals to help with their mental health, I got my cat after I got out of the hospital but no matter how sick or sad I got I wouldn't neglect her she's spoiled rotten and if it got to the point where I couldn't take care of her I have many family members who would take her so fast until she could come home. Depression isn't an excuse for neglect. And this is coming from someone with MDD.
