I have a 2001 C10 and I get exactly 50 mpg also. For a bike with this much power when you need it I think that you couldn't ask for better. I love my old Connie. It is by far the most bike I have ever had for the money I paid for it. I paid $2,500 for it when it had 16K on it. It also had just had a new set of Michelins put on it and still had the knobs on the tires. The best deal I ever made. It's a bike for those who like to ride anytime you get an urge. It is always ready and always performs up to my expectations. I get compliments on the old girl all the time. People can't believe how old the bike is and still in the shape it is in. I don't see myself getting rid of it at any time soon. I am 63 years old and I hope to pass it on to my son. i believe it will still be around as long as I do the regular maintenance on it.

Hey Kawatony, thanks for the vids. I'm shopping for a Concours right now and you've addressed some of my questions.

Just an FYI on the fuel gauge. It's a known issue to the concours community and can be fixed so the gauge is accurate by adding a resistor to the wiring running to it.

At 5'7" I have no problem getting my feet on the ground, though I did go ahead and have a stock seat modified to make this a little more secure. 50 mpg, consistently. 34K on a 2006. My fuel gauge reads about the same. Not a problem once you know to watch the odometer.

Hi i ride 95 zg and love it but your right the gauge is nuts. I have got as much as 49 on mine when i first got the bike . I am 150 and was riding slow but i was really supprised.

It gets good gas mileage, no doubt about that. I know a guy with a ZX10, and he gets only around 32mpg. He rides like a madman, though.

I did not know that. Good to know. It was never a big deal to me, though. It's way better to have more miles left han you think than to have fewer.

1.75 gallon reserve with just over 6 imperial gallon tank. Your fuel gauge is likely off. I put a 1/4 watt 220 ohm resistor on the plug to fix it.

You are correct that choosing a bike isn't "rocket science", but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that some people can't "get any bike they like". If your are very short, for example, you may not be able to touch the ground with both feet on some bikes. You could get a bike with a seat so high, you could only touch the ground one foot at a time, but that would suck. Also, some bikes require greater strength to handle than others. It has to do with weight and center of gravity.

I never said the weight of the RIDER is an issue. I said the weight of the MOTORCYCLE is an issue, and more importantly how HIGH the weight is. The rider's height >>is

What mileage are you getting on a full tank of gas BEFORE you switch to reserve?

3.5 gallon reserve on a 5 gallon tank?

Well, I can't argue with a person who thinks there's no point considering the seat height and weight of a motorcycle. I wonder why all the motorcycle magazines, like "Motorcyclist" and "Cycle World", bother to measure the seat height and list it in their reviews of motorcycles". They also list the weight. They should hire you so you could teach them something.
