Episode 34.Fass DRP 02 lift pump install 99 Dodge Ram

I change the oil, fuel filter and lift pump on my 1999 Dodge Ram 2nd Gen Cummins. I made a lot of mistakes but managed not to burn the truck down to the ground.

Excellent camera work and very thorough explanation. I did laugh when the lift pump cycled and flooded the filter housing but you live and learn. I thought if you left the plug in and bumped the starter it cycles the pump until fuel filter is filled if you do that 2 or 3 times. So can now try to do mine hopefully in less than 2 hours cause I gotta hit the road. I also installed an ISSPro EV2 fuel pressure gauge and moved my boost gauge to A pillar. The connection to get power and night lighting was a PIA. 4 thumbs up

Great video! As much as it hurt to see the fuel come out the top of the canister it was nice to see the pump working so well. I have an '02 Cummins with a screw top fuel filter and it's sooooo much easier to change than that mess you had to go through. Great video again!

Definitely take the filter housing completely off to avoid every problem he had in this video I just finished and was able to also clean the filter housing (w/ wd40) and derust and paint pump bracket on top of job with ease... 99 5.9 ram ,2021 Boston

Good video kid, unfortunately for everybody when you do something the first time it's a learning experience. You done well. But put that other fuel filter on it keeps stuff that comes out of your tank going into your fuel pump

You should have used the pre pump filter. Helps keep anything out of your pump since your pump is before the main filter.

Last time I changed my filter I loosened that top bolt to prime the filter housing. It sprayed all over me and the engine compartment. I was so frustrated. Tough being human, but some day....

Bleed the Air through the VP44 return banjo 2 or 3 times and on the 3 rd time tighten the banjo, much less of a mess. Again relocate to the pump to the frame rail!!!

I congratulate you for your good videos you know I have a question I have a 2500, Dodge ram with the 6 bt engine and I had to change the gasket that came on one side because I was throwing oil and for that I had to remove the diesel pump but later to purge the lines does not want to tear or light me could you please help in any idea you have and thank you very much

Nice install video. I did mine and I agree it’s not a 30. Minute install. Did you ever put in the in-line filter? If not, has it given you any issues?

You REALLY need to install the pre-filter as it keeps trash from the tank from entering the FASS.

Mine is not set up like that mine has the little pump on the side of the motor so how would i need to mount the fass like that or would it bolt right in that spot and hook up to the factory lines

Any body know how to wire the lift pump to an ignition switch? My lift pump won't kick on. The pump is good, I tested it with a hot wire and it kicked right on but when I plug it in, and bump the key, nothing. It should kick on for 25 seconds. So I'm just going to hard wire it to an ignition source like many others have done but I can't find anyone that can tell me in great detail, how to do it. I have a fass lift pump like the one in this video. Also what Guage wire do I need to use? Again, please make sure its a very easy to understand, detailed, description bc I do not know Jack crap about this stuff. Need help bad tho and asap. Thanks. My truck is a 2001 dodge ram 3500 5 speed cummins

On the inlet side with the bracket does the Allen bolt just stick thru the hole on the bracket? Is that how that works? Because it isn't threaded so it just sits in the brackets hole?

Its been awhile since I have done this but as I recall the allen bolt sandwiches the bracket then screws in. I would have to watch my own video lol.
