Good video, thanks. I bought the FASS for my 2004 Chevy 6.6 Duramax, I liked the 5/8" long sweep tube in the pump opposed to the smaller 1/2" 90-degree tight bend on the Air Dog. Bought the filter delete from FASS but it would not stop leaking, had to take it off, put a new filter and housing on instead, now I have a nice aluminum filter delete paperweight I can't do squat with. Anyone else have that problem with the filter delete not working? I increased my highway mileage about 1.5 -2 mpg. I typically get around 27-28 mpg on the highway empty and hauling around 22 mpg, depends on the ambient temp. I'm all stock on my 2004 dually crew cab so I installed the 100 series, just turned over 112,120 miles when I got the safety inspection the other day. I highly recommend everyone do this for your diesels. It's $700 well spent. I always buy new trucks and take care of what I have. Still have a 1992 Ford F-350 dually crew with the 7.3 and 5 speed manual.

Good call on the hard spiral wrap. At 17:34 it shows the hose going right against 3 layers of body sheet metal. I would add more protection in areas like that against chaffing by installing a stainless steel hose clamp over the wrap so that the sheet metal rubs against the hose clamp and not the wrap. At 650GPM, that pump would empty your tank before you could shut off the engine. At over $5 per gallon, better safe than sorry.

I've had the AirDog 165 II on my 96 GM 6.5L since 2013. The truck is happier with it than the OEM. Even the OEM 1994 LP which was supposedly a little better. Mine was gifted having been on two previous trucks since 2008. Customer service was great as I chose to go with new hoses vs. the already twice cobble up ones I recieved. Clear instructions and I'm not intuitive though I had to adapt because at the time, there wasn't a kit for the 6.5 motor equipped trucks (They do now). The pump motor failed after four years later (guess I'm part of another 1% group [Veteran) and, again, customer service was great. Sold me a new motor only and for a low price and I was able to repair the system in short order. The truck was off line until last year and I just reinstalled the AirDog. Again, the truck is much happier and I plan to leave it in.

I understand the fuel return spool with angled pipe needs to pointed at the tank, makes sense. But what about the orientation of the angled fuel return pipe? Does it need to be at the top (12 oclock) position or can it be at a right angle (90 or 180 degree) positions. Also you mention they have the filter arranged with 2 micron first and 40 microns second. Are these interchangeable and can they be installed in reverse (40 microns first and 2 microns second)?
@freedomworx2 ай бұрын
I don’t think it matters how you clock the nipple on the return spool. Mine is pointed toward the rear of the truck. And for the filters, the thing that is unique about the FASS filters is that the water separator is incorporated into the fine filter (2 micron) instead of the primary filter (144 micro ). You can’t interchange them. The pump pushes through the 2 micron filter. If you put that filter before the pump, the pump would have to suck fuel through it. You’d end up with cavitation and not enough flow. The primary filter (144 micron) protects the pump from debris, but still flows enough to not cause cavitation or flow issues. The secondary filter (2 micron) protects everything else downstream like the CP3 and injectors.
@genecarr45682 ай бұрын
@@freedomworx Ok I guess I missed that. So the fuel goes through the 144 micron filter first to protect the pump and then the 2 micron filter is second going to the engine?

You know… there was one question I wanted to ask… Are you familiar with the fleece in tank left pump? I think it’s called a power flow. I know I need to put a lift pump on… However I’m debating whether to put one on the rails or in the tank. Your thoughts now that you have one installed. Again appreciate the video
@freedomworx4 ай бұрын
@stevenm.hollis4429 there are pros and cons to each. The thing I like about the external units provide easier service to the pump and provide for more filter capacity. The main reason OEMs put them in the tank, is noise reduction.
@stevenm.hollis44294 ай бұрын
@@freedomworx Thanks for your fast response I appreciate it. I’ll let you know what I decide. Couple of my diesel France have said to put in the fleece sending unit along with putting a lift pump on the rail. They also said I could leave the original fuel bowl on for X extra filtration. I guess you mentioned before the main reason is to keep that CP3 pump happy With whatever you choose.

How do you know the psi it put up to the injection pump? If it needs ti be regulated can it regulate?
@freedomworx10 ай бұрын
There is a regulator incorporated into the FASS assembly. It’s designed to be 8-10PSI.
@jaffasoft897610 ай бұрын
That be cool. Probably just enough to help push my waste veg oil as regular VE type pump struggling but I shouldn’t put it under too much pressure sucking either.
@freedomworx10 ай бұрын
It’s different depending on the application. A Duramax CP3 pump doesn’t like any more than that pressure. But the FASS system for a 12 Valve P-Pump motor is significantly higher than 10 PSI. Not sure about the VE systems though.

I'm super unhappy with my fast fuel lift pump I purchased it for my 7.3 Shortly after purchasing it, they made an update and discontinued the fuel filters. So I can no longer replace them. And I've been running the same filters for nearly 10 years. They say they have a cross filter that will work. I've purchased that 1 and It will not prime. So yeah f fast fuel
@freedomworx2 ай бұрын
There are plenty of filters out there that cross-reference and should work fine. If the primary won’t prime, just fill it with diesel before you screw it on.

I heard you say that your fuel additive disperses water in the fuel. That is not good. Water should be separated from the fuel so it can be removed by the filters. Water mixed into the fuel will, with time cause rust or corrosion in the fuel system and injectors.
@freedomworx4 күн бұрын
The dispersed fuel is simply burned alongside the fuel. Fuel dispersants are pretty universal in diesel fuel treatments.
@JT-qf4it3 күн бұрын
@@freedomworx That's true but water mixed with fuel is an emulsion and should not be burned. Water should be divided from the fuel so it can be removed by the water separator. A dispersant works against a water separator by breaking down water so it mixes with the fuel. I would not use any additive that uses a dispersant. You want the water to fall out of the fuel so it can be removed from the system.

What is a lift pump for??
@thebaycuddy2 ай бұрын
To make sure no air goes into the fuel system?
@freedomworx2 ай бұрын
A lift pump pushes fuel from the tank to the injection pump. Without a lift pump, the injection pump has to suck fuel from the tank. As the vehicle ages, it’s not uncommon to get air ingress (leakage) into the fuel lines, and the pump loses its prime. Then the truck won’t start or it takes a while to start.
@thebaycuddy2 ай бұрын
@ can I use cat filters on those?

For more HP you need more air not fuel! If you blow black smoke full throttle you need more air that is more unburned fuel and is nasty
@freedomworx2 ай бұрын
The highest horsepower diesel blow tons of black smoke, unless they are running nitrous. If you aren't blowing black smoke, and you aren't running nitrous, you are leaving power on the table. You can't put enough turbo on a Diesel engine to clean up all the smoke, regardless of what Gale Banks tells you. The only way to get maximum power out of a diesel, and burn clean at the same time, is nitrous. If you don't understand that, I will be happy to explain the EGT, Smoke, Boost life cycle too you.
