In this episode, Sophie interviews Mary Bryant Shrader, the best selling author of ⁠The Modern Pioneer Cookbook⁠ and has a KZbin channel, ⁠Mary's Nest⁠ where she teaches traditional cooking to over 1M subscribers. Mary was raised by parents who grew up in the Great Depression era and farmed with zero waste. She goes into detail about her food journey and how she returned to her roots which shares many similarities to Sophie's story in that they were both inspired by Sally Fallon Morell's book, ⁠Nourishing Traditions⁠. A neat fact is that both Sophie and Mary share an affinity towards Vietnamese food and culture. I grew up the same way. We got milk out of the bulk tank at a neighboring farm. We had a large garden. Mom canned. We raised chickens for meat and eggs. Everything was made from scratch. Mom was such a great teacher and now I do a lot of the same things. So great to hear other's stories! Thanks for doing this interview, Sophie.
