I'm so glad the response was a whole lotta nothing 😂 We spent more time reassuring our family and friends that they didn't have to reprimand their dog for correcting ours--we wanted their dogs to! We WANT our dog to learn the subtle cues so she doesn't reach a point where she fends off any bigger ones.

I don’t understand this channel. I watch so many great trainers that are literally helping me step by step train my dog in every aspect. Anytime I watch one of yours, it’s really zero information. Like I don’t have any takeaway that I can actually use. Not sure why people watch these. I’m not a DD fan either because what he does, the average dog owner can’t use. There’s really no actual technique. He’s just wrestling with the dog, the dog shuts down from being overwhelmed and overpowered, then he pets the dog and that’s about it. That’s not a long lasting solution (maybe it is, I’d like to hear from the participants. If it was a solution then that’s awesome). BUT I do suggest those that do support DD, to let barkbox know that you are canceling or not ordering because of who they sponsor and supporting obsessive hate videos. That’s all have a great night 😊

My 7 year old dog (Simon) corrects my almost 2 year old dog (Misti) when she gets up in his space. Glad to hear this is normal behavior. He tolerates her. So even if they don't play together at least they can live together civilly.

yeah isn't that a great thing to say on video by Zak - that dogs don't HAVE TO love each other, and play together, to live together. We had a similar situation to yours once, with the senior dog just literally never playing with the young dog. But it worked well regardless; and both dogs had their playmates outside of the house, in other dogs in the neighborhood.

That actually help me to understand my dog a bit better. My older dog isn't in love with our new puppy. She tolerates her alright. But no love. And that's Okey, I just understood that. She's also guvint her signs of "don't approach when I'm playing with a toy". Puppy understands it straight away, im only starting to understand it. We had some aggression issues when we got the puppy. We're constantly working on it. We've made a great progress. But I think, just because she doesn't love the puppy it will never be the way I thought it would be. But it's fine. Dogs like humans, don't have to love everyone. As long we understand each other and tolerate it's fine. Thank you 👍

I think it’s so cool to watch dogs communicate with each other. Recently my JRT had to tell a dog “don’t hump me!” and more recently, a large 13 month old Golden, “don’t ever bulldoze me again!” Both dogs and their peeps respected my JRT’s voice.

No surprise here, JRT's are no push-overs :-) Many larger dogs don't seem to quite know how to play with small dogs; my Mastiff girl didn't either; and I fear she still sees our Beagles as "cute little things" that she doesn't take seriously. She loves them though. If those docile Beagles were JRTs... THAT would be very different :-)

Zac George hasn't got a clue about dog training. I'm 61 years old and have been training dogs for 50 years. There's nothing I don't know about dog training and Zac is a fraud. At best he can potty train a labrador. Training a Belgian Malinois to military standard? He wouldn't know where to start, he's a social media influencer, NOT a dog trainer

Great to see a Corso puppy featured in this puppy series - I bet lots of viewers would love to see a Malinois puppy in a future series; or another high-drive breed puppy, like maybe a Pitbull, Doberman, or Boxer (as so many of us have high-drive puppies & dogs, and it can be quite challenging to manage them and teach them house manners.)

Question for you Zak that has nothing to do with training (at least directly, I don't think). I've noticed that you leave the harness on Shade and Veronica a great deal of the time. I've never left harnesses on my dogs (or the rescue dogs) for lengthy periods of time. That's due to several reasons. First, with longer haired dogs (e.g., Wolfhounds), leaving the harnass on for a protracted period of time can cause tangles/mats in the dog's fur. That's absolutely no fun to deal with! Second, I'm a bit afraid the dogs will get nails/teeth caught in the harness when they're playing/roughhousing. That could cause a trip to the vet (an expensive trip at that) and may cause the injured dog to become fearful of the dog they were with when injured. This actually happened to us--two of our dogs were playing and one accidentally nipped the other one's ear, you'll never convince me it was "intentional' and the injury was minor but did necessitate a trip to the vet. After that the one who was injured was very frightened of the dog that nipped him and the injured dog would pick fights. We eventually ended up having to rehome the injured dog--on the advice a veterinary behaviorist who we called in immediately afterward; the injured boy was just so fearful and nothing was helping him overcome that fear. It was horrible and I felt like a real failure for a long time. I hope that never happens again. So why do you leave the harnesses on?
@parisdevine8553
@parisdevine8553 6 ай бұрын
If you contacted the Dog Daddy you wouldn’t have had to rehome the injured dog he would have helped him and you over come it . Vets either recommend rehome, antidepressants or put the dog down . Id rather have Dog Daddy’s effective modification. I agree with not leaving harnesses on dogs we definitely don’t leave halters on horses it can get caught on something. 👍

@@parisdevine8553 No, I will NEVER subject any animal to the Dog Daddy. I would much rather go through the heartbreak of rehoming. My boy was MUCH happier in his new home (as an "only dog") and he didn't go through the trauma that the Dog Daddy would impose. And that's what it boils down to for me--the dog's happiness and well-being. So I absolutely refuse to do anything that will compromise either. The Dog Daddy compromises both. Thanks for your input, but I will go with Zak here and try to ensure that Augusto never harms another dog ever again.

@@janhankins911 your wrong DD doesn’t harm any dog , a moment of being uncomfortable is way better than a lifetime of misery for the dog n owner . You gave up on your animal because it was easier for you that’s the truth I’ve seen people like you giving up dogs on Facebook as soon as it gets tough , you are a disposable society swipe left or right. I take responsibility for my pets n don’t give up on them. My best friend had two dogs that fought and nearly killed each other she and her husband build a fence in the middle of the yard and they had 2 outdoor areas and they kept those dogs till they died, it was such hard work at times especially camping, car travelling but they did it. One hr of a dog being uncomfortable for a lifetime of being in a different state of mind is definitely worth doing.

@@parisdevine8553 First of all, how dare you judge me for doing what everyone agreed was best for my dog--and that was to rehome him. It broke my heart to do it, but I have no doubt that it was the right thing to do. He was much happier. You weren't involved in the issue, you didn't see the lengths we went to to prevent having to do just what we did. So hare DARE you judge me for doing the best thing for my dog. Second, I'd like to see someone treat YOU the way DD treats dogs and then you can come tell me how wonderful he is and how he helps dogs and doesn't harm them. Maybe if someone treated YOU that way you'd have a bit of a different perspective. Now you can continue to judge me and continue to think that DD is the best thing since sliced bread if you want--that's totally up to you. But I'd appreciate it if you'd keep your opinions to yourself regarding what was probably the most difficult decision I ever had to make (rehoming a dog I loved and that I considered part of my family). And since you worship DD, why are you wasting your time watching Zak George and screaming at those of us who wish to do no harm?

Mine were the same . I used Zak's methode to go out and play with them short before visitors come , than put them into an other room with toys with kibblings inside . The barking decreased over time until they easily went into the room without the playing before and without something to eat . Now we are at a point where they could stay within the room , but most visitors don't like their size . Outside I use to have a bag with treats to stop the barking of the girl . But when we go to the vet there is nothing to stop an outburst of happy barking even yards away . 😄

Great video, Zak! Just wanted to ask about a problem I think I might have in the future; So I'm getting a male Pomeranian (Bou) in about 2 weeks, and I've been doing research for 3 months. How do I deal with potty training him for when he gets older and starts to lift the leg? Do I generally use larger pee pads, because I'm training him both indoor and outdoor. My room is a flight of stairs away from our grass, so I want to have options
@mirawenya
@mirawenya 6 ай бұрын
I know I’m just a scrub, but ideally you just train him to go outside. If you’re on top of it from the start, and allow plenty of chances to pee outside, you could be accident free really early on. Mine only took a week and a half. But I stayed paranoid and took him out many many times a day and didn’t really chill about it before he was 6 months. It sure beats cleaning up pee and poop for months on end though. I’ve heard too many horror stories. Out immediately (and I do mean immediately) after sleep, food, play, training, any change in activity, and after a set amount of time. 15 minutes to start with might be good. If you wait for signs he has to pee, you’re much too late. Be paranoid! Puppies can’t control their bladder. By the time he starts lifting his leg, he should already not have peed inside for weeks and weeks already. (Months in my case. (Started lifting his leg at 5 months old.)) I can’t stress enough how much easier your life will be if you’re proactive from the start.

Just wanted to compare her correction of Shade(?) here to the DD guy yanking the dogs around. Some people said that older dogs will correct the puppies. Yes, they do. But never more than necessary (usually). So, yeah, just thought about that. Dogs who are well socialized will not often overdo a correction. They are good at showing where the line is, clear and sharp, but not harder than needed. Anyway, your dogs are so cute and nice. :) Hope it goes well with the new one.

sweet. You prove yourself that a parenting training style is the way to go and more effective as well as fair to the dog (I'm no native speaker, sorry if I sound weird). Inertia didn't actually snap but just communicate a simple (leave it, that's mine" in an authoritarian but not over the top way and Shade got it instantly while in other cases, if the "correction" isn't strong enough he would just keep going. Like every dog and every human as well. The treshold of what strength is needed is completely individual, some need only a gaze, others a fake snap and actual strong willed dogs a correction with contact (which freaks out some people but is just communication as well and helps you wwith your puppy if your older dog is well socialized and competent). SHade has a tendency to bullly if he sees that the other dog doesn't give contra, like Veronica, it may also triffer a prey drive which I can not say due to not being there and seeing more but it's often the case with tiny mini dogs. And you know this all as well, you just want to overplay it. But you did a correct move when Shade was playing too rough for Veronica and he just kept going. You steped in and blocked him, doing actual parenting. that was good correction and not that stupid p+ only way which could distracct the dog if you for example call him but would not teach him how to behave. A dog owner needs to actually communicate which you did there and take on the parenting role. Sad that you put so much hate and lies upon balanced trainers while you do it yourself. Balanced trainers are not necessarily those that use prongs, shocks etc. I'm "balanced" too (or at least not p+ only, no idea what I would identify with) and use no tools but actual communication. Treats are nice and perfect for tricks like sit, recal, heel, turn and circus stuff, but behaviour is mor than that. It is parenting, communication, rules, being the one strong figure that your dog can rely on in every situation. Calling that gentle communication of Inertia a "snap" is clickbait and unfair to her as it puts her in a bad light for views. She did a great job. Those people that freak out over these normal behaviours of their dogs have zero clue and should not watch my AKita and white GSD play 😂 they'd think they kill each other while in fact they love it and are so gentle that I'd put my hand in between at any time. They, especially the AKita just makes "angry bear noises" lol it's hilarious

Please help me. I adopted a two-year-old German Shepherd dog and she lived with me in the house for two and a half years. I took care of her daily and took her with me everywhere. She followed me wherever I went, from the living room to the bedroom. She slept with me in the same room. We were not apart for an hour. The only day I left her at my friend’s house. I only had an appointment with my doctor for 4 hours. When I returned, I did not find her. When I looked at the camera, two children, 14 years old and 12 years old, came and played with her. I went out with them. After two months of searching, I found her in one of the dog care centers. I was shocked when I saw her. She had lost a lot of weight, was dirty, and had her tail cut off. I did not know. The reason is that when I took her out of the cage, she was happy and ran and played with me and moved away from me. Whenever I tried to call her, she came for a few seconds, jumped and licked my hands and face and went away, sitting or sniffing the ground several times, and when I left, she did not care or try to catch up with me. Why did I become very sad and shocked? What should I do? I love her and am very attached to her. She was like, “What should I do? I live in Jordan.”

They’re both females. Fortunately the older one is tolerant of her exuberance but since she won’t stop she starts rough playing with her. Meaning he will also chomp her ears, nudge her neck away quite strongly and just trying to void her teeth. This is the cycle all day. Neither will stop till i intervene! The older one was not really socialized properly and is very jealous. I have trawled KZbin for puppy training videos but none is out there on how to get two dogs to get along. Helpppp

The problem with citizen scientists is that they latch onto a concept like Frenetic Random Activity Periods and fail to see its broader significance with respect to husbandry. As a Cane Corso Shade will probably reach an adult weight in excess of 50Kg and will exceed 75% of this by the age of 12 months. The growth plates in his limbs are still soft at present to accomodate this period of rapid growth and as such they are easily damaged by excess excercise with an excitable adult dog if not carefully supervised. Of even greater concern is that you let Shade go down stairs alongside another dog with no way to control his speed of descent or stopping him leaping off the last three steps. Even if this does not lead to injury that is immediately obvious it is a recipe for arthritis in later life which his owner will have to cope with!

OMG! A correction! Is 100% natural act between dogs related to building ranks between pack members. A correction does not imply application of a significant (/harmful) physical force. My senior yorkie would correct a young cane corso for being to much in ber business. Successfully! It's difficult to watch Veronica running away from the puppy. I wish she was more assertive. It's unbelivable that there are people who make a big deal of a correction used between dogs or during a balanced training.

@zakgeorge yep! keep loving my comment. I'm a supporter of balanced training approach and a genuine fan of DD and American Standard Dog Training. And there is growling sometime happening with harm to none. Can u imagine??

I am sorry, but I don't think it's correct to compare an older dog telling a younger dog that they did something wrong to balanced training. It's totally appropriate for an older dog to teach a puppy manners (you don't steal someone else's stuff, you don't jump on me when I'm asleep, etc.). Dogs do this in the way they can---a soft growl, an air snap. This doesn't hurt the puppy and it is something the puppy understands immediately. Use of choke chains, prong collars, shock collars, etc. can and often do hurt the dog (no matter what you say, I will still believe these hurt the dog) and they also confuse the dog--the dog doesn't understand that language. The use of those aversives add to a dog's stress and anxiety (while an older dog gently "correcting" a puppy doesn't add stress or anxiety--simply because the puppy understands the "correction"--the puppy doesn't understand a balanced trainer's correction). I will absolutely NEVER let a "balanced" trainer touch one of my dogs. I simply cannot imagine why ANYONE would find it necessary to hurt, confuse, and scare and frighten dogs to "train" them. I simply cannot imagine myself allowing ANYONE to put a choke collar, prong collar, or shock collar on my fearful little 8 pound poodle mix, or my bold little 9 pound Havanese that's blind in one eye and has one leg shorter than the other three he walks with a limp and runs like a tripod, nor on my little 7 pound boy that suffers from collapsing trachea syndrome. Heck, I can't imagine letting ANYONE put any of those horrible things on a Dane or Wolfhound coming into rescue that is scared out of their mind, in a new place, just out of a shelter (which are horribly stressful for dogs, even the best shelters are terribly stressful for dogs). You will NEVER convince me that you're "saving the dog's life" and that you're making the dog more adoptable by making that dog's fear and anxiety even worse and making a dog that has issues with trusting people trust people even less (because people hurt the dog). NEVER. So I certainly won't be "loving" your comments.

Hi Zak and Bree. I have alot of emotions and thoughts of how you are creating this all out war on Dog Daddy. I trained dogs for 20 years before I became Bed-bound due to serious illnesses. Zak your last video where you put Dog Daddy on one side of the screen and you on the other. VERY EFFECTIVE, to most people Who really do not understand what is happening and the nuances that are happening. For one thing, dog daddy, is he abusive? yes. But for how long Is he abusive for? and let's be honest and say maybe a full minute at the most? And then he is seen but you never show this and that's what's not cool Zak, then he's petting the dog walking with the dog and the dog has come out Of it's hysteria of aggression. Would I want to look at a Minute of this person choking a dog lifting a dog Whatever he's doing. no I would not. however, if I owned a dog like that and after that was done and I was done crying and screaming And my dog was different and now it had the capacity to be mellow and understand more, then it's well worth the 1 minute of abuse. You see that you are presenting things in a dishonest way. I don't have the room In this comment section to explain what I mean. But with your new dog Chase or cash I'm sorry I don't remember the name at this momeant. I thought it was interesting and I think of course you did it on purpose and you got a so-called big dog who most people are afraid of So you could say see my positive reinforcement training can train a big dog, and what most people consider a protection dog Or an aggressive dog. Zak I wish you would just get real. it's getting to the point now where this whole debate whatever, you know what I mean, it's just the way you're doing it is so slimy. Because I as a dog trainer I see what you're doing and also you are a commodity Bark box, nom nom, all the different people that have sponsored you over the years you know it's like you're a Caesar Milan. and Caesar Milan disgusts me. Because whoever he was in the beginning he is no longer that person he's a sellout. So you know I use positive reinforcement training on my dog that I am working with the best I can now because I'm disabled, to be a service dog. Do I always use PRT no way. H⁰e is a very stubborn little guy and I have to deal with who he is I can't just say no you do it my way or forget it. So it's not even fair to look at my dog and expect if I do all the little treats and ask him for criteria and lower and higher criteria and all that stuff. What I really want to finish with is for you, I know that this comment will mean nothing. I am a piece of nothing to you Zak. THATS the problem. You are in a campaign where all the science-based as you call it, was NOT Science Based 20 years ago. And it won't be the only science-based method in 30 years from now. Your ego is getting hold of you and I'm just hoping against all hope that maybe you'll listen to 2 words I have to say. You have never made a video where dog daddy wins and the aggressive dog changes! No you won't do that. Yet after the 1 minute of DD doing his abuse, the dog wins too. The dog is sharing space and walking close to Dog Daddy, truly a different dog. But all you'll do, as shown in that side by side video you made, which is a disgusting video you made. It showed, boom boom boom abuse abuse, abuse, in shortcuts,p so no one would see what happened after. Which was a different dog. It's war you're after not learning. You are acting as a religion where you are right and any one who uses an adverse method, (to you) can never be right. Thank you

I don't believe this was the start of aggression or resource guarding. Intertia was telling Shade "Hey, I am playing with this toy now, you can't steal it from me. That's terribly rude". If you have a child, are you going to allow that child to just take what he wants, when he wants, from whoever he wants? I hope not. I hope you will teach your child manners and that includes that you don't go over and "steal" other children's toys. You wait your turn and play with something else in the mean time. If a parent teaches his child to share, that isn't "aggression". That's teaching a child proper manners and getting along with other people and in society.

All the love to you Zak but this content felt like a bit of a time waster. Or maybe that's just my take on it, because of the title I expected a more severe situation and more in-depth information on how to continue training to desensitize, deal with resource guarding etc. I have a 1.5 year old chocolate lab and sometimes we go to see my cousin who has a 4 year old Golden and she just plain doesn't wanna play with him while he wants nothing more than to run around the yard with her. She starts telling him off with barking and act really high and mighty by being nonchalant towards him and seeking attention from the people instead. So when I saw the video title I was hoping for a bit more focus on how to work with dogs to help them get along better. I've been trying to work with my dog who gets over excited (I think that's what's putting her off) but he's still pretty young and a very happy energetic dog.

I want to express my sincere gratitude for your feedback. It’s incredibly valuable and helps me refine the content I create. Your perspective on expecting more focused guidance for specific behavioral issues like desensitization and resource guarding is completely understood, and I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I’d like to clarify the overarching goal of this series. The episodes are designed to weave together various elements of dog training, including socialization, play, and communication skills. For instance, in the episode you mentioned, we focused on fetch, dog-to-dog interactions, and the fundamentals of teaching dogs like Shade to work for rewards they value, such as toys. These aspects might seem disconnected at first glance, but they’re all critical pieces of a larger puzzle. The series is intended for the long game - to paint an organic, comprehensive picture of dog training. Each episode builds on the previous ones, creating a cumulative learning experience. Once all episodes are available for binge-watching, I believe the connections and the broader narrative will become clearer and more impactful. Your point about wanting more in-depth information on specific behavioral challenges is well taken. I’ll ensure that future episodes delve deeper into these areas, providing practical, actionable advice for situations like the one you’re experiencing.

@@zakgeorge Thanks, I appreciate a content creator who will take feedback with an open mind. I absolutely appreciate the points you are making in the video and in no way am I trying to say the information in here isn't valuable. But the title sort of suggested a certain topic, and while I can see how socialization, play and communication absolutely is a big part of this type of training I was hoping for a bit more.. I don't know, direct or practical knowledge/ demonstrations. The information in the video is all very theoretical. I don't know, maybe my expectations are a bit off given this was a shorter form video. Anyway, thanks for listening to the rambling thoughts of one of your viewers. Continue your good work, we all appreciate it. Again all the love to you (and Bree, Inertia, veronica) you do a bang up job. I understand what you're saying about the series as a whole painting a larger picture as well, so I look forward to upcoming episodes :)

@@zakgeorge you dont show the full video like he does, you just show the parts of it that look bad in clips... Then you see the full video and it doesn't look bad at all. Like watch the video where he takes an ecollar off a german shepherd dog , and says the ecollar is doing more harm than good. He clearly does not abuse dogs if you see the videos in full context... the videos where he is "hanging dogs", if you watch the full video, the dog is the one hanging itself in those moments. The dog daddy never lifts up the leash to pick the dog up off the ground, he just holds the leash while the dog is reacting. These rare cases are the dogs that no human or animal can get close to anyways. If he was abusing animals and had something to hide do you think he would post full videos from start to finish? It's like the Andrew Tate debate... people post the small clips and make him look soooo bad... Then you start watching full videos and doing your own research and you actually start to like who he is as a person. People need to chill with the clips... just link the full video so people can make accurate assessments about whats happening. The only thing I think dog daddy does that is a little extra is the pressure point thing imo
