Some dogs are just very calm and cooperative and when you've raised a calm and cooperative dog you think you know how to raise dogs because you've had a dog most of your life and it was very good and if that's been your only experience and then you get a little hell-raiser and none of the things that worked with calm dog are working with the hell-raiser it really can feel like you've tried everything. @grenade857212 күн бұрын
@@marekmaxpabianiceShe's NOT rewarding the bad behaviour. She rewards the auto-correction = when the dog, instead of fixing the other one and getting tense, decides to look away. You can show a treat to a missbehaving dog to make him focus on you (it's a redirection), but only giving him when he does what he's asked to do. Corrections can work too if you can stay in low energy and be on point (like Cesar Milan -- I'm not a fan of his training, but I have yo recognize he's spot on when doing is "sssht" and touchong the missbehaving dogs). Each person has to adapt strategy according to their personakity, and threir dog's.

“The dog’s being aggressive!” they cry while the dog play bites and clearly shows signs of excitement at the other dog. They had a GSD previously, and they don’t recognize signs of excitement or what play-biting is? And yeah, play-biting is a problem at that size, but it’s a lot easier to address and if it was aggression they would’ve needed stitches by now.

I love Victoria's training style & this was the best of all. I recently acquired a rescue dog who's young but been to multiple homes, including one who threatened to euthanize her b/c "She is feral." What she is, tragically is a Kelpie, &n uber-high-energy cattle dog who should be out on a ranch, running all day non-stop, with a pack of herding dogs. Instead, she had little or no training as a puppy and was "rescued" but had to be kept in a garage for a rather long time b/c the rescuers other dogs would attack her & steal her food, & I don't even know how many other homes she has been in. The last one was successful but after about a month the owner got a job in the city so she was up for adoption again. She is fearful & spooky & mouthy & paces , won't go into any room that looks like a trap, plays so rough that my sweet gentle boy dog no longer wants to play with her. But she is sweet & is trying so hard. This video is gold for me---wish Victoria could come help me out, I'm a decent trainer but never had a dog like this one. We have to make this work.

My GSD has the Roam harness from Woolly Wolf, my Malinois has the ‘side by side training harness’ from Hunter, very similar to the one used in this vid (also providing double leash option with or without an additional collar). Both absolutely destroyed the Julius K9 harnesses within weeks. My GSD is a very good girl, my malinois is in the height of puberty and a Houdini (almost dislocated her shoulder in a Julius K9 harness trying to wrestle herself out of it). The harnesses from Hunter are very well adjustable, my small dog also has a Hunter harness. The ones from Woolly Wolf are great for dogs with more coarse fur (less friction or risk of locking in hair with closing of the harness). Hope this will help

Why do people allow dogs on the sofa at all, it evaluates their height? Other times, you say off if other people are around, it sends mixed messages to the dog. It’s better just to say no completely to being on the sofa.
@crystallion12699 ай бұрын
I’m not so sure about the bigger breeds that could do some serious harm/have natural territorial instincts, but we’ve always let our two (my sweet Charlie, senior now and he’s in my room - imagine a corgi with flat ears and a long tail) and Lucy, a beagle who passed) on the couches and beds. Other than Lu who didn’t get potty trained well, we didn’t have an issue with it. They loved anyone who came around - their rights to the sofa are the same, but they never made a big deal if there were too many people (very rare for us, basically never happened) and for the most part were obedient (well, except for Charlie who just has negative one brain cells) and gentle things. When the dog gets… that big? Yeah, as this video demonstrates, a little bit of disobedience or distress can be a genuine issue. Still, if a dog’s generally a sweetheart I don’t see why they can’t go on the couch (well, other than the mess)
@VicKnits9 ай бұрын
I have a large dog (GSD/Dutchie/ACD mix, 1.5yo) and she is allowed on the couch. The only time she is not allowed is when she is misbehaving, and she knows it! We have an “off” command so she knows when she needs to get off, and we use “leave it” if she is being stubborn about wanting to be on the couch. We have no issues with getting her off the couch when we need to (which honestly is mostly when I’m cleaning it) and she is a great dog! The issue is when people allow their dog to misbehave on the couch/bed or to become possessive of it.

I understand they got the dog during Covid lockdown. You know to keep them company and they lost their other dog but during that time you weren’t even able to like go out and do stuff because it was locked down. Nothing was open. Nothing you could actually do but what they should’ve done at least Her outback played with her got rid of some of that energy. It might’ve helped her behavior inside the house and if you were able to take her for a walk, take her for walks constantly just get out of the house. I know you’re gonna have to wear a mask and what not but at least try to socialize. If you know anybody that has a doggie that doesn’t mind coming over your house and you know they test negative for Covid. Bring their dog over. Have you interact with the dog and your dog get used to that dogall these things could’ve been done even though it was a lockdown

The dog was very close to biting off half of its owner's face or buttock. That is a very risky situation that such a specialist should not have allowed to happen. The reaction of the specialist should have been much stronger because next time, with another dog, it might end very badly. That dog was just young and tried to dominate its owner. Trying the same trick with an older dog taken from a shelter could end very badly. You were just lucky. But it's only a matter of time before a more aggressive dog hurts its owner more seriously.
