Lorne Leibel, a veteran offshore racer who possesses three US and three world championship titles, has driven boats alongside some of the best throttle men in history including Bob Latham, John Tomlinson, Richie Powers, Ryan Beckley, Bob Idoni, and Bob Morgan, among others.
Emerging from a retirement spanning decades, Leibel, a Canadian homebuilder, returns to the race course with longtime friend Latham. Together, they are tackling open waters in the Ocean Cup series aboard his classic triple-engine 47-ft Apache. As the proud owner of boat #001 of the 47-ft model, Leibel embarked on a journey spanning years to acquire the boat, then sell it and repurchase it.
