Q: What happens if "sanctification" doesn't have multiple meanings, but instead has multiple contexts serving a single purpose (spiritual maturity)? Putting it differently, Rom 8:30 skips over "sanctification" for a reason... Not a required step between justification & glorification, not every believer will be fully sanctified, a spectrum as opposed to the "all or nothing" characteristic of justification. Thus, sanctification is a process that isn't complete until one arrives at glorification, initiated alongside the event of justification. This is clearly described at 1 Thess 5:23- where Paul prays in the indefinite- "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." This process of sanctification over time forms the doctrine of sonship, or functional sanctification, as opposed to a purely positional sanctification.
