My favourite General. I went to MMGs just after he left, Chip tried to persuade me to stay in when I got out, when he was Adjutant. Legend of a bloke with 2 Para. Great Podcast. Keep em coming.

Brilliant episode, fascinating to learn about the regimental officer training program. Chip was my brother Jim’s platoon commander down south.

As "hat" I can honestly say the best OC I had was a Para. First thing he did was get us all fit and treated us like adults too.

Interesting point around the 20:00 mark about the younger/newer blokes being more prone to drop out. Many junior rank subcultures (across the Army) were Hobbesian and treated new lads with outright hostility. The first 6 months - 1 year in a platoon could be rough. New guys are inevitably the weak link in the chain, but the old way of doing things perpetuated it rather than addressing it. Poor leadership at every level.

I was just in when you stood on that artillery piece and gave out N.I medals got shelled week later back still aching was around harvest. Hey if anyone needs help or advice with trading crypto stocks or daytrading also I finally got a degree in machine learning from school of engineering at Stanford University online mostly what I failed at when I joined the REME at 16 to become a electronics Technician, at 16 I thought man I didn't join the army to go back to school I transferred fully ,so ant m yes I did leave the reme to become a fully trained paratrooper not 9sqn 2PARA but what happens in the regiment stays in the regiment
