Thank you for posting this. I am very slowly going through this and it is exceptionally informative.

Yes Gary, the camera showing the full slides, as you suspected. The other camera shot, of the large screen, was fantastic and showed most if not all of the information being mentioned, then suddenly we switch, at the vital moment, to this soft focused view which I found was quite detracting and hard to see, yes I regret that being nearly 70, I have to wear glasses but hey, even you spotted a problem and continued. This camera was virtually showing the same information, ok, shot from a different angle, so to me, seemed pointless? It looked like that camera wasn't square on to the laptop? But anyway Gary thanks for the other camera with the great, clear, large and easily readable shots. The whole presentation was so well done and very helpful and I commend you all on your efforts.

I agree, guys. Though it's titled "Introduction to GNU Radio," it's clearly from a starting point beyond what you might consider the "average ham." Somewhere out there might be a program that bridges the gap.

I am a hardware guy - NOT a code head. I want to learn - I really do, but this is way, way - freaking light years - over my head. I'll watch the rest - in spite of it being a wasted effort.

Very informative, shame they kept switching to a pointless out of focus camera?

Hi, Fred - I"m the 'they' - Gary KN4AQ. I shot, produced and edited the program (with W4FT on camera as well). I'm not sure which camera you're referring to as 'pointless and out of focus', so perhaps you'll clarify. What I see is that the camera showing the full slides had a problem. It wasn't out of focus - it wasn't shooting in full high-definition. The text of most slides is readable, but softer than it should be. I would hardly call that camera 'pointless,' but it was the only one that had a 'focus' issue. (By the way, be sure you're viewing in high-def 720p, not some lower resolution on KZbin). It was a relatively inexpensive ($500) emergency replacement for a camera that totally failed. That replacement worked well enough in several situations, but then started giving me this trouble in lower-light environments. It _should_ have handled the screen shots OK, as there's plenty of light there, but it didn't. I saw this in editing, so I selected the camera that had the presenter on the side of the screen more frequently than I might otherwise. In those shots, the screen is perfectly clear, though the lower-left corner is blocked. You _may_ be referring to the time I show just the presenter, and not the slide, though that camera is not out of focus. Some viewers would like to just see slides, some appreciate seeing the person talking when they are not referring directly to a slide. I've been refining that technique. I liked the shot that had both. That shot didn't work for this year's conference (2016) so I used a split-screen technique that got some good comments. In any case, I somewhat rely on your ability to manipulate the KZbin video - pause, rewind, replay - to give you all the time you need to absorb details of a slide. This year I've spent $4000 replacing that camera with a more professional one, and adding a fourth professional camera - the low end of the 'pro' line, to be sure, but cameras that can handle the variety of situations I encounter. I've spent a total of $10,000 going to a second-generation of high-definition 'tapeless' cameras that record on SD cards. The video you were watching is funded by viewers (like you). *HamRadioNow* is a shoestring operation. The TAPR DCC videos are usually - and _partially_ - funded by a *KICKSTARTER* campaign that covers travel and shooting expenses, but doesn't really 'pay for' the several weeks of editing and post production. Viewers also contribute using Patreon (monthly) or individual PayPal or credit card payments. See www.hamradionow.tv/contribute/ for details.

Instead of explaining how to work with GNU radio(suppose explaining where to write a code to create new blocks and how to integrate that with GNU Radio, You are explaining all signal processing technical stuff..
