Episode 55 ADHD and Masking

Mrs ADHD returns, bringing with her all the chaos that is expected for an episode on ADHD and masking. Despite this, as usual, the episode includes very dull yet informative psychoeducation delivered by old balloon head, Alex the Psychoeducation Monkey, the personal reflections from all three ADHD adults and the usual 'top tips'. 'What has James lost, forgotten or mislaid this week?" returns just to annoy Alex, but will he finally choose laptops? Alex reads out correspondence from 'Robert from Kidderminster', even in his poorly state and also continues to alienate our international listeners with his ridiculous hellos. Will James get shushed again? Will Mrs ADHD manage to not interrupt? Will Alex's head continue to be the butt of everybody's jokes? Listen to find out...

I never masked very well and when I tried to mask I just bombed horrifically. I understand that I don't need to go to weddings, dinner parties, xmas celebrations, or airports. I stopped trying to force myself into their normie world where I was fucking miserable.

I decided to take an Elvanse capsule this morning instead of my Concerta XL. Had some left after a 4 day trial last year. After about an hour I was up and focused on sorting out books, DVDs etc to declutter. Just what I don't get with Concerta (although that has removed fidgeting and impulse buying). The ADHD clinic take weeks/months to respond and getting to see my own GP is proving impossible. I'm not asking for advice. I just wanted to tell someone. *I did a lot of research so didn't just swap on a whim.

I stumbled across your podcast on Spotify a few weeks ago now, have watched a good chunk of them and only just today noticed that it says "with" Mrs ADHD and Mrs ADHD's head at the bottom of the photograph of the two of you! How that passed me by I have no idea! 😂 Anyway love your videos. It's very interesting to (possibly) learn more about myself as one of the many many undiagnosed. Keep up the good work!

Omg I go to the bathroom ALL THE TIME to get away from sensory overload. Plus these damn meds make me drink a lot of water. I feel called out.

I bloody love you three, especially Mrs ADHD. I feel very similar to her. Talking of masking, I realised I actually created a full body mask which only cracked when I was 17. I still mask but I think unmasking comes with age

Lost my sunglasses, offered my scarf to a cold looking woman in a mobility scooter who reacted like I was trying to rob her and then followed directions from a policewoman which got me as lost as my sunglasses. Not only that, I got on a train to London and I wasn't even going to London. Oh dear.
