Another lovely video, thank you. My 'Moto' for this year is strangely PUT IT BACK which can be translated in many ways : Put it back where you want it to go; put it back after you use it; put it back on the shelf; put it back together; put it back to order and so it goes.

In 2021 what brought me the most joy were working in all my perennial gardens and I started fostering rescued Golden Retrievers with the Golden Retriever Rescue of Michigan. I’m on my 4th GR named Flynn. He is a special needs 13 month old who is pretty much blind due to having Hydrocephalus and has other medical issues as well. But, he walks, jumps, and twirls like a baby goat. He brings joy to all that meet him.

Happy New Year to you and your family. I've enjoyed watching your podcasts. Podcasts and knitting are my yoga for the mind. In 2021 I was diagnosed with non covid health issues. Whilst I was coming to terms with my diagnosis I saw a wonderful quote outside a church "Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but about learning to dance in the rain." So I'm doing a lot of dancing and I hope you are too.

Thank you for sharing so many projects and how you managed to make them work -- or how you would improve upon them. I'm not one to wear skirts, but I'm kind of intrigued by yours. This past year has not what people looking in from the outside would say is any good. (have been living with metastatic breast cancer for two years now.) But it's one in which I've received an outpouring of love and support.

Hello Selma, and happy new year! I love your idea of the connections kal - I'm also yearning for connection, and to be able to meet and hug people more freely again. One of the things that I enjoyed from 2021 was reading along with a good friend of mine - we used to live in the same city until I moved 3 years ago. We both love to read and have similar tastes so about one year ago we started to read along each other. We pick a book together, agree on a loose reading plan, and will exchange comments and impressions on the book as we read. It's been lovely, an dt make sme miss her less and more at the same time!!

Hello Selma! Firstly, I enjoy your podcasts. Secondly, always nice to see fellow Ottawan! The things that have brought me joy in 2021 were the opportunity to explore a wee bit of Manitoba when I was there for work, but then be able to return to my family and furbabies in Ottawa. I had seen your new pattern when it was released. I decided to support your fundraiser for such a worthy cause and purchased the pattern now rather than later. I hope you are as successful as last year. Wishing you all the best in 2022.

It is a really hard diagnosis to get. For me, knitting helped tremendously as I didn't have to deal with brain fog. Two years ago I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer (which is terminal), and knitting plays a more important role as I'm not working for pay anymore. It is surprising and welcome to have almost unlimited time to do this craft. I love to give away things now and to be more focused on what I knit and trying things I "didn't have time" to try before. The list is still a bit long...LOL I wish you well with your treatments!

Selma, I have been watching your podcasts over the past year and they along with other podcasts have kept me company on many a day as I knit or crochet! I love your knitted skirts especially your West Village ones however I rarely wear skirts so don't think I shall be casting on for one but you never know! The Ranunculus is a jumper I have been mulling over the possibility of casting on for as I am determined to knit a garment in 2022, I have not been quite brave enough since I picked up knitting again about a year or so ago after many (over 30 years probably!) years! Funnily enough my word for 2021 was Connection! My word this year is Breathe - Covid has forced us into a restricted way of life for almost two years and the desire to breathe deeply and open oneself to life in all its beauty and abundance again in whatever ways are possible is what I need. The yarn for your give away is such a beautiful rich red and what a delightful bag. Many blessings to you and your family for the coming year and thank you.😘❤

Thanks for a most interesting and inspiring podcast. There is a dearth of knitting connections near me, so I am most thankful for the internet and youtube. With too many knitting podcasts, I have whittled down my watching to just three or four that I consider superior. Yours is one of those. Besides the knitting content, I love the nature scenes at the end, as well as the city when you choose to go there. It was a healing in my soul to finally be able to visit my mother and immediate family for an early 2021 holiday celebration, since the start of the pandemic. I hadn't been home since my brother's funeral three years before the pandemic and I was set and ready to go home for a visit and then I postponed my plans because I didn't want to risk anyone's health. So it has been at least 5 years since I've been home. It was so good seeing everyone and to see that all of my family is well. I'm thankful for my family even though we get on each other's nerves sometimes.😊

Hello Selma. I have enjoyed your presentation about knitted skirts. Few years I had a couple of commercially knitted skirts from Banana Republic and I wore them a lot. Eventually they pilled and fuzzed beyond repair and I had to say bye to them. You have inspired me to take a look at the hand knitted skirts, and I love your pattern and have purchased a copy as well. Things that inspired me or brought some comfort in 2021, was definitely my knitting and watching my favourite knitting podcast (yours is something I always look forward to) and being able to spend time with my grandchildren. I needed to stay positive for them and we did lots of crafts and outdoor games. For the 2022 I am looking to bring more balance into my life, as I was not as physically active as I used to be (no good reason for not doing it, other than being confused and overwhelmed), finish decorating and organizing my new home and staying more organized at work. I would love to add more socializing to my wishes for 2022, but we see how it will all roll. My Best New Year Wishes to you and your family. Kasia

Knitting is very important for my health, it has kept the muscles in my hands keep working okay (I have a muscle disease) and it has kept me sane in 2021 as well. What I loved in 2021 was knitting 4 sweaters, using patterns by Jennifer Steingass, and my resolution for 2022 is to keep knitting her (and other) patterns, buying patterns to support the designers, and buying good quality yarn to knit their patterns with, and by that, support the several LYS-es we have here, because lockdown has hit hard on them. Mental and fysical health are so important, I wish that on all of them and you!

Hi Selma, Thank you for your wonderful podcast. You always are such an encouragement to listen to. I agree with you this year has been hard as the one prior was. During the pandemic I have lost my Dad and my 2 beloved german shepherd dogs within months of each other. I think that for me, in 2022 I have to focus on mindfulness. I get too far ahead of myself in my brain and I am always thinking of what I want to do next with knitting, and I anxiously want to finish what I am knitting to start the next thing, and really I do that with everything not just knitting. I am going to be intentional to focus myself and my thoughts on what I am doing currently, and try to find joy and comfort and satisfaction in that alone while I am there. Thank you Selma for being such a blessing even though you have been through struggles just like the rest of us you are always there with encouragement and hope. I pray 2022 is a better year for us all. ❤

Thank you for another wonderful podcast. I love all your skirts and projects. I could totally relate to your thoughts on 2021, it has been a difficult year where connections seem to be few and far between. My little two year old grandson has bought me great joy this year. I've had the honour of watching him while his mother works and it's been tiring but very fulfilling. He is always happy and everything is new and exciting to him. He also loves my knitted sweaters, hats and socks and insists that his mother puts his sweaters on everyday. We have to wait for him to sleep at night in order to wash them. He's a very knit worthy little guy.

The sweater you are wearing is so beautiful and perfectly knitted. My goal for the new year is to knit color work and improve my health after recovering from my third round of cancer in the past 16 years. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your home. It is beautiful.

Hi Selma, one source of joy for me is a few podcasts I discovered this year. There's yours, chevyrell, and Tiffany liew. All funny, talented women who tell a good story most times and simply make me laugh. After I've watched one of your videos my computer is loaded up with open tabs all searching for yarns, patterns, places, books, shows, etc. It drives my fam crazy, but its a testament to how your videos are chock full of good content! So there you go. Keep it up and TY! Oh, and watching my first grand child grow from a newborn to a super happy, walking toddler all year is also kinda fun I guess.😂😂😂 Happy and healthy 2022 for you and yours!

Always a delight to send time with you. Your knits are inspirational! One of my joys this year has been spending time with my knit group, whether virtually or in person.

Enjoyed your podcast. I had been waiting for this skirt pattern to come out ( as you had mentioned it on your previous episode) and now I cannot wait to get going on it! What brought us the greatest joy this year was the birth of our first grandchild.

Hello! 👋🏼 New to your podcast & was happy to hear that you were from Ottawa! I live just 30 minutes east of downtown, fun! I also lived that you showcased local yarn dyers, all new to me, I will definitely check them out! Finally, I love the skirt pattern & will be looking for yarn to work one up, I was just sad that I missed the sale for charity.

Another inspiring episode, Selma! ❣️ I am VERY excited about your skirt pattern, and will definitely be participating in the KAL. Every year, I knit something for each of my four daughters (and for my one son as well, but he doesn't get the same thing as the girls), and I am thinking that they would all love one of those skirts, as would I love one for myself. Last year they each received a Ranunculus, of course, since I love that pattern so much, and am still not tired of knitting it, even though my total is now up to eleven. LOL The thing that brought me the most joy this year is that my youngest daughter gave birth to her first child after coping with four years of infertility struggles and a shocking ovarian cancer episode two years ago; and that my third daughter, who has also experienced more than four years of infertility and two miscarriages, has finally made it to the second trimester of pregnancy and is carrying a healthy little boy. So. Much. Joy! ❣️
