It was easier for white people to group them that way - they didn't have time to be looking into minority houses and classifying them accordingly. Hey guys... On the part of King Hintsa... Some Xhosa scholars say the reason the Xhosa people are so lost is because of King Hintsa's head not being buried with his body - because for the Xhosa people it is out of culture to bury someone's body without a head.

King Hintsa was killed by Sir Harry Smith (Harrismith named after him) during “Xhosa wars” or Frontier Wars… his head was taken to the UK and it was never brought back… yes Sol you are right, AmaMpondo are an independent tribe and do not fall under AmaXhosa. Check the Commision of enquiry that was appointed by JZ to investigate Kingships, has quite a good summary of our history in South Africa, in terms of different tribes.
