Hi Selma. I have been watching your podcast for almost three years. It was the very first one I ever watched. I am just outside Toronto and have a farm where my husband, son, two horses, three dogs and 30 chickens live. My favourite make is a pattern by Mina Phillips called the Highland Peaks Shawl which I made from an alpaca silk blend. Love your podcast!

Thank you for another lovely episode and for sharing your latest knitting. Probably one of my favorite makes was a felted bag for a charity auction; it was black with a sunflower. It is so pretty and useful, and received a good amount of bidding. But, sweetly, a friend’s mother won the bid and, because she knew how much I loved the bag, she gave it back to me. ❤️ Have a great few weeks, and I am looking forward to your gentle podcast. Cheers, Dee

Hello from another Ottawa knitter! I really like your down to earth approach to podcasting. Thank you for the hours and hours of crafting compagnonship. I've been knitting for close to 4 years and my favorite make is the one I am currently working on. I enjoy the whole process from inspiration, pattern searching, yarn choice and just all around discovery of new techniques as well as the act of knitting itself. Picking a single project above other is hard because they are all my favorite for different reasons. However, if I am pressed to pick one project, I would go with the sock saga I am currently working on. I intend on making 6 pairs these year as gifts for my family. This is ambitious because I usually don't repeat the same pattern twice but I'm up for the challenge. In the end, I hope the socks I make will find a happy home and happy owners!

Thank you Selma for your time. A gift. We are in Florida for the winter November thru April. This is the first time we have been gone from our Minnesota home for the entire snowy season. I do not miss the bitter cold but I miss the birds visiting my feeders and the fluffy snow in the trees , the first snow and a big storm. I’m not certain if I can do this every year… I have an appreciation for winter joys and I thank you for sharing yours

I'm a very slow knitter and I'm still working on a Soldotna and a Comfort Fade Cardi. I also am making a quilt out of 4 patches of my own design. I did crochet my 6'4" grandson an afghan two Christmases ago - it's quite large! I lost track of how many skeins of yarn I ended up using, but he likes it, so I'm ok with that! Thanks for the giveaway Selma! Hugs from Virginia USA! 🔆🔆🔆

For your "connections" knitalong, I'll be finishing up a sweater I'm knitting for my amazing sister. (She moved here two years ago with her partner to help me out when I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. (I feel fine, just need help . Our relationship has deepened into something truly wonderful -- with both of us giving to each other all the time. Ordinally I was going to teach her how to make it, but because it's modification of my Color Swap Cardigan and it's with a delicate yarn, I decided to make it myself for her. Fortunately she's here for fitting, and we are similar in size, which help. She'll do much more knitting on the next one. In the meantime, I get to make my pattern more generic, so I can get the sweater format out to more people and folks can do whatever surface treatment they like -- wither plain or striped, etc. I look forward to sharing the images as the first one is completed.

Lovely works of art. I always find listening to you soothing and full of information on new to me yarns and things. Thank you. My craving for this month is going to my local Joanne Fabric store and buying some affordable acrylic yarn and crocheting a blanket. I'm craving making a Chevron blanket for some reason. There are so many new acrylic yarns out there now, with stunning colors. I like making the blankets with acrylic because they will be wash and dry, no fuss blankets. I'm currently working on the Fading Point Shawl by Joji Locatelli. I just finished reading my first Karen Slaughter book and it was excellent. I'm also a huge fan of Craig Johnson, who writes the Walt Longmire series. There are so many great authors out there. I love detective, who dun its, and thrillers, and romance, and putting all that in one book is fine with me! My favorite books are the Outlander series, followed closely by the Deborah Harkness series, The Discovery Of Witches, followed by Sara Donati, (who is Rosina Lippi), and her Into The Wilderness series. There are so many great books out there! Thank you for sharing your books with us. I get to know new authors this way. Thank you for another great podcast.

I am a new knitting addict (August 2021 was my first cast on) but I am most proud of my version of Tyntesfield Top by Mary Henderson. It was my first attempt at colourwork and I could not believe how well it turned out. If anyone is looking for an intro to colourwork that doesn't have long floats this is definitely a good pattern! By the way Selma, the purple in your Noux Sweater looks amazing on you; definitely your colour.

All of your makes are so lovely, I especially like the crochet blanket and the colors are gorgeous. My favorite makes are probably my socks for myself, that I keep improving so that they fit better and have finally in the last few years been able to make some great fitting socks. I also am really proud of my amigurumi makes and the Alan Dart makes of the cat Bagpuss and the red squirrel Filbert Cobbins. I put magnets in the squirrel’s hands and cob nut/acorn so that he could hold it on his own, and it came out so amazingly cute.

Another lovely visit whilst ironing this time. I think The Shetland Trader is in my future for that pinafore dress, but that cabled cardigan is absolutely dreamy. I think my favourite knit is a cabled chair cover. Quirky as it is it was a joy to make and I practiced continental knitting in the moss stitch sections so can flit back and forth now. Sadly I used some superwash wool that was passed onto me and it stretches out a fair bit so it gets laundered frequently - live and learn. I will definitely knit a replacement in the future. BTW absolutely loving my West Village skirt. It is hard to not wear it every day.

I have two, the first would be a full layette set I made for the sister of my daughter's best friend who was expecting. I had never knitted a blanket before as I've always crocheted them and made a Feather and Fan blanket, a sweater and the sweetest hat ever! The second would be my very first pair of socks! As suggested by many youtubers to make my first pair out of dk weight I made my husband a pair of house socks, they fit and he actually loves them! I found it easier to make them for him first because it was easier to fit on him than myself.

I also just learned even if not doing colorwork when knitting in the round inside out it keeps the bulk of your project away from you therefore not getting in the way so much. If you do a search for knitting inside out you will find several videos explaining the hows and why's of knitting inside out. I plan to try the technique myself. I also found out about Ladderback knitting when doing colorwork - It's also an excellent way to do floats when doing colorwork. These are things I've never heard of even though I've been knitting forever. So I wanted to pass the info along. Happy knitting!
