Interesting and enjoyable video. Having worked for the Montreal agency as a sales representative for Rodania for about 7 years I had the opportunity to meet Hans Baumgartner. Good company with a broad selection of good quality watches. Unfortunately it got crushed as did many watch manufacturers in the change over to quartz and influx of watches and movements from the far East.

Howdy @matlevy8147! Wow, what a great experience. So you had direct experience with Rodania and had a chance to meet Hans?!! That's awesome! Definitely had a rough time after the Quartz Crisis, but thankfully made such great watches that there's still many a great example of their work still ticking. Thanks for sharing such an amazing experience! Cheers!

I just purchased a mint nos manual wind Rodania which I'm guessing is late 60's or early 70's and looking forward to giving it Some wrist time, my watch maker looked it over and gave it a clean bill of health and confirmed it is running strong and accurate. My first Rodania was a quartz that my father bought me in 1980 and it's still running perfectly infact I gifted it to my son and it's now in his collection.

Howdy Lonewolf! Sounds like you picked up a beauty of a watch. Hopefully, you get some nice wrist time and you gotta share a bit after you enjoy it for a bit. Did you buy from US or EU? Cheers!

I too have 4 Rodania watches. 1 automatic and 3 manual winding. The oscillation of the balance wheel in all these 4 watches is so good even though they may be 45 -50 years old. Great vintage brand.

Howdy! I really like the price points to access these great watches. Had popped on my Rodania just this last week and enjoyed every “minute” :-) I’ve been looking for Mercx models this last year but tougher to find in great condition. Thanks a. Million for watching, cheers!

Hey Efendi, thanks for pointing me towards the HMT brand and model. Very cool :-) problem for me is my fat wrists, hehe. But, honestly, smaller sizes work best under a cuff. Cheers!

@@theluxneophyte oh then no point talking about spinnaker piccard 1000m diver 😅

Hehehe, I’ve always wondered how these super convex crystals like Corum bubbles and Spinnaker feel on the wrist. :-) It would be a nightmare for me, as I seem to attract watch bumps on doors and other objects, hahaha.
