So cute ! You're smart to use strong fishing line. I made these years ago using a thin jewelry chain to hang the silverware. Wasn't strong enough and they eventually fell apart. Live and learn. I enjoy everything you've done so far. Thanks for brightening our days.

Hi Jim. I just adore the sound of those chimes. Actually you've inspired me....I have a couple of broken wind chimes in the garden that need to be fixed....I have some of the nylon fishing line too....I think this is a job for the neverending list....I also wanted to ask, is the drill bit you used specifically for metal? R.
@TheLakeEffectGardener4 жыл бұрын
Hello! Honestly I had this drill bit lying about- the only thing I definitely knew about it is that it was diamond tipped. But what I can tell you- especially for the cutlery, the thinner the bit, the better. When I made the prototype originally I know for certain the bit was thin and it was a standard wood drill bit. I used the thicker diamond tip but because of the wrought iron. Does that make sense? So thin standard bit for the cutlery, and probably something a little more butch for the hanger if it’s made from something with girth. 🥰 sorry- I tend to prattle on. 🤣
@RichardandPaul4 жыл бұрын
@@TheLakeEffectGardener ah diamond tipped! That is actually helpful. I have a lot of drill bits and I know that most are for wood, but some of them are for masonry and have strengthened tips. I'm really tempted to see if the local charity shops have any cutlery....when they reopen! The part of London that we live in is under threat of being locked down again..... anyhow.....I do love a good wind chime....we have several around the place....one of my favourite things is falling asleep hearing chimes from outside or another room ... preferably distant.... there's something dreamlike and otherworldly about them. R.
@TheLakeEffectGardener4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! That’s where I got my cutlery, so grab ‘em asap! Ugh. I’m sorry that you may be locked down again. This virus is the freaking gift that keeps on giving whether we want it or not. You may want to check out FB marketplace too for the cutlery... people are cleaning out during their stay at home and they may want to part with some for very little or even nothing!

Forks 😏 Do you know what a garden cloche is some are very expensive if you go to a Dollar Tree store they have wire wastebaskets about 11 inches tall for a dollar black my preference and white turn them upside down and they make the cutest cloches for flowers or veg in your garden keeps critters away from young seedlings ..I put black key rings on top will send a pic on FB 💌😍🍴
