Episode 7 - Signal Chain Series - Reverb

I lean on the MercuryX for end of chain reverb. To me it's the ultimate reverb, and I love your Mood MkII, Sloer, and Afterneath emulations on it. I like to call early chain reverb "preverb," and my favorite preverb is the OBNE Dark Light. For my use, its natural home is before dirt pedals. When I send it into my OpAmp fuzz, I get such lush/chaotic/haunting textures. I go with Comb mode on the Light side, and either Pitch or Delay mode on the Dark side. These days I only go stereo, and there are two stereo reverbs that I still want to try: the Mr. Black SuperMoon Eclipse (or the BloodMoon Blood & Chrome, if it was stereo) and the Neunaber Wet Stereo. But I'd wager that the MercuryX could emulate both of these reverbs. I'm hoping that someday you guys release emulations for both of those pedals for patrons 🤞

Stephen here. 👋 I second that we live in a great era for reverbs (especially ones like ROOMS by DBA). Definitely want to try MercuryX after listening to this. I’ve never really liked menu diving compared to simple “what you see is what you get” with the knobs. How is the feel of the UI on MercuryX?

The UI on the MercX takes a little getting used to simply because it’s new. I (Alan) really like the Text view which gives up to 6 parameters you can change on one screen. Paul prefers the Bubble view which is prettier and keeps you focused one less at one time. I love how the MercuryX relies on the screen as opposed to printed parameters, allowing them to keep things up to date. As a sound creation tool, like the LVX you have near endless possibilities to create the sound you’re wanting. I’ve done a bit of the Rooms as presets too and both the MercuryX and LVX have saved my bank account so much money! 🤣
