Good episode guys, keep putting on for the culture. As far as Nas albums go, his 1st two are his undeniable classics so of course Illmatic & It Was Written. Most of Nas' top 30 songs are on these 2 albums. After that Stillmatic. It was an almost perfect album that was a great rebound to what many consider to be his worst album Nastradamus at a time people left him for dead after Jay had dropped Takeover. Then from there I'd have to go with Lost Tapes and Magic. Unexpected projects that didn't come with a lot of hype but the quality of music was top notch nonetheless. *Some don't consider Lost Tapes an actual album since it's really a compilation, so as an honorable mention I'd give Life Is Good the slight edge over God's Son.

Super dope show fellas 🔥🔥 Imo Nas has the best and most extensive catalog, because he legit has 11 or 12 albums that could circulate in his fans' top 5 lists. I think Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, and Lost Tapes are staples in his top 5 lists. God's Son and Life Is Good are put in top 5 lists of a loud majority of Nas' fanbase. I Am could be a sleeper for a top 5 pick. If you were of a certain age when I Am dropped, that album was everything. And then you have the Hit Boy run, which I think any of these 5 albums are valid for a top 5 Nas list.

Let's talk about it. Nipsey used to say the highest human act is to inspire. Mos Def said one time that next time you ask how Hip Hop is doing? Ask yourself how am I doing? Cause YOU, we the people are Hip Hop. I think it's important to go out and intentionally look for inspiration. Sometimes it could be a walk or a drive to your old neighborhood or a trip to the bookstore or the movies or whatever. Most importantly though I think folks gotta look within themselves. Over the temple doors of ancient Africa long ago there were inscriptions that read "Know Thyself" that people would see as they entered a holy space. Hip Hop to me is such a space and like what the Rap Roundtable means symbolically is us getting back to discussing Hip Hop like a village again and the MC's are our Griots and we just decoding the messages. For me this year has been incredible. I've always rhymed but I kept them to myself for the most part but this year I been rapping out loud and I'm super appreciative of the love and support people have shown me. It's really crazy cause I could never have planned this but one thing about it is I always worked on my craft. Like Nas said on Illmatic when it's real you doing this even without a record contract. What I plan to do in the near future is a multi conceptual piece and I look forward to really showing ya'll what I'm made of on an artistic level. Folks have been saying for a while that Hip Hop is missing that soul or the year been kinda slow and its not like it used to be etc. One thing about it is artists are gonna have to dare to be different, build off the foundations the pioneers already set and really push themselves. WE as a culture have no excuses cause Hip Hop is the most powerful and important art form of our times. Its reach, impact and influence is beyond comparison to any other art form but with great power comes great responsibility. All the nonsense and beef and divide and conquer gotta go. This culture means to much so we gotta ask ourselves what are we doing to add on? Anyway I feel like T'Challa pulling up in Oakland at the end of Black Panther one just looking at abandoned buildings thinking how I could turn this into Wakanda and with this metaphor Hip Hop would be Shuri. Hip Hop gotta keep evolving but now its to make sure after the next 50 years this culture is at the center of the arts, education, technology, social sciences, entrepreneurship, mental health, healthy living, fashion and of course music. Anyway done dreaming for now cause I gotta go to sleep so I can get up and go to work in the morning but the thing is living with the purpose to turn your dreams into reality. See you soon. The reason why I think people hate on "I Am" is mostly because thsy are basing it off of what it could have been (the bootlegged double album). If you wasn't in the minority that knew about the bootleg and original double album concept, then I Am was everything to you in that era. Sidenote...it's Nas' best album cover too.

If someone never heard the original intended double CD bootleg that was supposed to be I Am... and Nastradamus together as like The Autobiograpy of Nas with all the original intended tracks then they just don't know in my opinion. That would have been his 3rd straight classic!! They separated it into 2 cds and took off some classic tracks that were replaced with some lesser ones while the others mostly ended up as part of The Lost Tapes.💯🎤🔥🔥🤔
