Episode 86. The A-50: Chasing the Invisible

In this episode of "Combat Approved, the viewers will see a unique aircraft A-50. Officially it is called an early warning and control system. In fact, it is a huge flying radar, which can see hundreds of air and surface targets in hundreds of miles of range. In our episode, we're going to put it through some tests. We'll see if the A-50 can see such sophisticated targets as An-2 planes, which are actually made of cloth and wood. To confuse the radar, we'll arrange those planes in a complicated figure, a stack. And then we'll see if the A-50 radar will detect a helicopter hovering motionless in the air. In addition, for the first time on TV, we will present the new generation aircraft A-100. It has no analogues in the world. In terms of its technical characteristics, this vehicle is many years ahead of all its foreign competitors. A-100 is able to see the enemy not only in the air and over water, but even on the ground. Its radar, like the antenna of A-50, sees all 360 degrees around, but twice as far and more precise.

A-50 is big and bulky and easy to be downed like any big aircraft. That is why in today warfare nobody comes close to battlefield with that kind of aircraft. It was not downed by some unknown super missile, it was downed by stinger from RU territory. The RU could knock it down Poseidon, Global hawk or any spy aircraft or drone over Black Sea if they wanted, but they did not, they only knocked Reaper drone by dumping fuel flyover few months ago. In every war people got killed and military equipment gets destroyed, nothing new, the question is who can produce enough weapons and who has more trained soldiers and who is closer to the battlefield. All of this is greedy Banksters/Corporations agenda to spread this war across entire EU like they did in WW2 and to make tons of many out of it, saving $ as reserve currency. Only this time the risk is much higher, the risk of global thermonuclear war. If this thing goes further and shit hits the fan it will be duck and cover technique for the most of us.

Yes stealth is only effective within the range/frequency that it is designed to be non reflective in, older radar systems won't pick it up, scanned array using multiple frequency will! + there's optical sensors that work in a similar way, light,electromagnetic,sound,heat are all detectable wavelengths!

Detecting fifth generation stealth fighters with early warning radars is... Pretty easy. It's never been difficult. Civilian ATC radar can often detect them. This isn't a secret. They're much, much harder to detect in higher frequency radars required to lock onto them with weapons. They have similar countermeasures for non-radar locks, though my understanding of those is considerably worse.

People don't seem to understand that it's not an issue of detection, it's an issue of time. If you can detect a plane 2 minutes before it can get within firing range of your assets, you're going to be able to intercept. 5th gen aircraft can get into a firing position before you can detect them, that's why they are considered 'stealth' - the shots come long before you ever detect what just attacked you.
