Episode 141. Special Purpose Air Defense

Ballistic and cruise missiles, planes and helicopters are the types of weapons and equipment that can level a city or most of it. However, the Russian Armed Forces have a defense against each of them. This episode of Combat Approved is dedicated to the First Special Purpose Army of Air and Missile Defense, which protects Moscow from any airborne strike. The viewers of the Zvezda TV will learn why we cannot be afraid of a Tomahawk and the reoccurrence of the tragedy of September 11, 2001 in our capital. The journalists of Combat Approved will visit all the city's defense lines and command posts of combat radar stations, they will tell how this sophisticated defense umbrella is arranged and how the air defense system is trained during the FIFA World Cup. Also, the viewers will see exclusive footage of how the counter-missile, the main defender of Moscow against ballistic intercontinental missiles, is extracted, stowed and moved from the launch pad. And finally, from the commander of the Air Defense Army himself, they will learn who and when gives the order to destroy an airplane or a helicopter.

This is one of many air defence division in Russia. But this one is designed for a specific purpose. You can refer it as "special force". You send in the special troops trained to eliminate a complex target and get out. Instead of sending the entire battalion. And this is still part of integrated layered air defence complex. Just that Russian C4I system differs from NATO.
