LYRICS:
I heard a knock upon my door the other day
I opened it to find death staring in my face
The feel of mortal stalking still reverberates
Everywhere I go, I drag this coffin just in case
My body's trembling sends shivers down my spine
Adrenaline kicks in, shifts into overdrive
Your secrets keep you sick, your lies keep you alive
Snake eyes every single time you roll with crooked dice
I felt the darkness as it tried to pull me down
The kind of dark that haunts a hundred-year-old house
I wrestle with my thoughts, I shook the hand of doubt
Running from my past, I'm praying "Feet, don't fail me now"
I've lost my goddamn mind, it happens all the time
I can't believe I'm actually meant to be here
Trying to consume, the drug in me is you
And I'm so high on misery, can't you see?
I’ve got these questions always running through my head
So many things that I would like to understand
If we are born to die and we all die to live
Then what's the point of living life if it just contradicts?
I felt the darkness as it tried to pull me down
The kind of dark that haunts a hundred-year-old house
I wrestle with my thoughts, I shook the hand of doubt
Running from my past, I'm praying "Feet, don't fail me now"
I've lost my goddamn mind, it happens all the time
I can't believe I'm actually meant to be here
Trying to consume, the drug in me is you
And I'm so high on misery, can't you see?
I've lost myself
You tried to reach me, but you just can't help me
So long, goodbye
You tried to save me, it won't work this time 'cause now
I've lost my fucking mind, and there's no fucking time
I can't believe I'm actually meant to be here
Trying to consume, the drug in me is you
And I'm so high on misery, can't you see?
Can't you see?
Can't you see?
Can’t you, can’t you
Can’t you see?
Can’t you see?

Yes. And I think that's what Ronnie wanted. To remake this song as a love letter of sorts to everyone that's been with him this whole time. From teens that listened to FIR,MCR,BMTH,TDWP, and ADTR that dreamed of going to Warped Tour growing up, that are most likely adults now but still made time for his music in their life. People talk a lot of shit but Ronnie's evolution and strides make him one of the best. Tbh I remember texting my buddy after 'Drugs' dropped and going "holy shit man, Ronnie grew up and his skill along with him. Never thought I'd say it but I think my most anticipated album is FIR and whatever these singles are leading up to. Time to bust out my teenage years playlists with 'Raised By The Wolves' and 'The Drug In Me Is You' and he said "saaaaaame man. Always liked FIR regardless of any hate others had for them. And this is why. Ronnie gets better every time." And all I said was "facts bro. Straight up facts." Haha.

Ah jeez this gives me some nostalgia. When I was a teen I loved the original because of how angry and angsty/rebellious the song felt and how I related to it. Here I am now as an adult, years removed from college, finding myself relating to the song's new tone. The feeling isn't exactly angry anymore, more sad and and resigned. That is something adult me can relate to. 10/10, thanks for the feels trip Ronnie

This version gives me literal chills. I have been doing a lot of self reflecting lately, and I found this after listening to "Popular Monster". I am huge fan of FIR and Ronnie now. The emotion, the theatrics, the piano, the message, his raw, captivating talent and the relatability... This is absolutely amazing!

It was June, summer 2011, a high school girl blasting the drug in me is you while going to the beach with her friends. Now its 2020, I'm a whole grown up now, with adult issues that probably most of us are facing right now, and even after all this years Ronnie still gets me, some things never change.

This is pure genius. Both versions are great but this one and the video sure makes a couple tears run down for a few reasons. His voice, vulnerability, video, piano playing, and those screams were definitely felt deeply.

I think he might mean like vulnerability in the fact that Ronnie is putting his actual singing voice out in front. He hits quite a few different notes and does sing decently tricky melodies. But then again he might mean literal vulnerability, in which case...lol
