You have told me more about helping my knee than any doctor. All the want to do is to do knee replacement. I have good range of motion. My pain is bad when I go up and down stairs. I can’t stand long or walk more than a mile at a time. I am going to do these exercises and get better. I’m 75 and work 4 days a week. I’m not ready to give up. I was supposed to have surgery last year and my doctor had to cancel to have her baby. It was meant to be. Keep helping me.

I just had my right knee replaced. It was extremely knock kneed. It's straight now. My left leg feels like these exercises can stave off the 2nd knee replacement. This knee is straight. But, the replacement knee that was made straight is longer than the left. I'm almost thinking I should replace the left in the hopes the length will even out. At the moment, I use double shoe inserts in the shoe of the shorter side. I wonder if I should save my left knee or just replace it

Dear Sir - I have suffered many years with painful knees. I’m at the point of agreeing to knee surgery because of severe pain and the inability to walk without severe pain. Obviously from here videos my stretching has been too intense and probably the reason why I’m in a big huge orthopedic flare up. I do Aqua Spin (riding a bike in water) twice a week and I always do Deepwater aerobics once a week. I’m not sure if either of these are doing me more harm than good? I have to walk now with a cane and can’t walk too far at all. My knees are incredibly stiff painful. I have huge Baker’s cyst behind both knees both knees. I want to do one of your programs but I’m not sure which one I should do?Can you please advise me thank you so much you’ve actually given me a little bit of hope that maybe I can avoid total knee replacement. X-rays and MRIs dictate that I need knee replacement of both need ASAP. Appreciatively, Marilyn

I learned the first one many years ago after I accidentally hyper-extended my knee, with one addition. It was recommended that a light weight, such as an ankle weight, be used once the pain had improved. I did this for several months, and it worked wonders. Fast forward to the present, and I've been using it again while I heal from a mild lateral meniscus tear. I sit on my kitchen counter, with the cabinet door below open, and slightly swing my legs back and forth while wearing a light ankle weight. I don't remember where I first learned the technique, but evidently my viewing history brought your video to me (lots of searches re knee pain lately). I just wanted to say that this exercise is extremely helpful, even if you're not quite bone on bone yet. Thank you so much for posting. PS - I'm 75, with mild osteoarthritis, and my exercise routine includes strength training, HIIT, plyo, core and a weekly power walk. Not ready to give any of that up. _Use it or lose it!_ =[]==[]=

There are many reasons why I got in thus condition. Thank you for showing all these exercises! I have missed so much of life, it is very depressing!! Basically trapped inside my home.
@epmanualphysicaltherapy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mary, sorry to hear about your knees and weight. If you're more than 70 pounds overweight, your priority needs to be addressing your diet more than exercising. Not that you can't try exercise by any means, but you likely won't see as much improvement in your situation by focusing on exercise. Getting the extra weight off will make a significant improvement to your overall health and that is worth A LOT!!! Don't shy away from addressing your diet by focusing on your knee pain too much.

Thank you doctor. Will do all the recommended exercises. I injured my right knee about 18 years ago because of not warming up before a run. It started swelling with water then which needed to be drained. I have a crackling in both my knees when I move them & I also have varicose veins. I realised that my knees are not really getting a good supply of blood as a result & I also dont drink much water which is going to change immediately. I do not want to go for an arthroscopy as I have heard people complain of pain during cold days. I can walk without pain but I cannot dance or run and a result I have back pain from not being able to exercise my back by dancing. What do you think the crackling sound of my knees mean? Thank you! I go for double knee shots every 90 days. The effects last only a couple weeks, max. It’s a difficult scenario to know if I dropped 20 pounds I would be pain free (I’m a yo-yo dieter who knows this), but the more weight I gain about my goal weight, the harder it is to walk. The more sedentary I get, the more I gain. I’m tired of starving myself periodically to lose weight. I’d rather be able to keep up consistent walking. I’m hoping these exercises truly work. I’m am anxious to check out the video on “toe exercises”, as I have thought for a long time that my “feet feel out of balance”. I don’t know how to describe it better.🤷🏻♀️But I feel like my toes are lifting up when my heel hits the ground instead of gripping the ground.

Have been doing the glute exercises but have found if I do it too intensely it makes the knee pain worse.. I leave off for a couple of days and will slowly get back to it. Like the tailgate exercises.. Thanks for your in-depth podcasts. I have stage 1-2 knee pain.

Good morning, I got very bad osteoarthritis, after the exercise can I massage my knees. Let me know please. Thank you and God bless 🙌
@epmanualphysicaltherapy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mirette! Yes, you can absolutely massage your knees after exercise. It might be even better if you massage the front of your thighs. That's usually where people with knee arthritis need it the most. In case you need it, here are more videos for help with knee arthritis. “Knee Arthritis Pain Help” kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1maa9YF-WmKLF7oI4VoczH8i

I had a scope done, and the surgeon said I have arthritis in both knees, but my right knee has an indention in the right side of the joint that is bone on bone resembling a pot hole. My knee cap from time to time will slip out of the groove, but returns. It's extremely painful, and feels like all the tendons and ligaments get stretched out when it happens, and usually takes about a week to tighten back up. He sent me to physical therapy and I felt like I was getting better, and on the last day that I was cleared, that night my knee slipped out again. My doctor said that I should stop exercising my knee in ways that have it bending and that I'd probably have to wear a brace for the rest of my life, and or have knee replacement surgeries. I'm going to start trying these glute exercises. I'm hoping that something will keep my knee cap from continuing to slip out of the groove.
@epmanualphysicaltherapy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin, sorry to hear about your dislocating knee cap :-( You definitely need to get those glute muscles stronger! It will keep the muscles in better balance in your knee so that you have the best chance at keeping your kneecap in place. Our 28 Day Knee Health & Wellness Boost Program would be great for you. You should consider it! www.epmanualphysicaltherapy.com/knee-health

I'm saving all the exercises to do. Question am I to do all of them daily or some one day and some the next day?
@carolyn7691Ай бұрын
Since I found your channel I'm having to re-evaluate my fitness classes for all the quad and hamstring exercises they are doing. Would it be best to stop those classes for awhile?
@epmanualphysicaltherapyАй бұрын
Hi Carolyn, It depends. If after your classes you notice that you are in any pain it might be best to at least take a break. If you feel fine then it is ok to continue just make sure you are using your glutes to drive the exercises. Check in with yourself often and if you feel any discomfort please stop. We have a knee arthritis you might find helpful to work with. You can access it here: “Knee Arthritis Help” kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1maa9YF-WmKLF7oI4VoczH8i Start with one or two exercises, beginning with the smallest range of motion and the lowest intensity. As you feel stronger, you can gradually increase both the range of motion and intensity. It’s best to do these exercises every day throughout the day. Aim to tire out the muscle without losing form or control. Consistency is key. Always avoid working through pain; soreness and mild discomfort are normal, but pain is not. We hope you found this information helpful to you. We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!

Thank you as I keep forgetting to work on my Glutes. I had knee replacement on my left knee 27 months ago (still have stiffness and pain) trying to avoid replacement on my right knee now. I’ve been told by a doc that I am “what’s called” double jointed! Could this be why I had to do physiotherapy for one whole year after full knee replacement and it still gives me pain??
@epmanualphysicaltherapy Жыл бұрын
Hi Karren, It is our pleasure! Glutes are tricky sometimes so you are not alone.🙌. We are sorry to see that you are suffering from stiffness and pain 27 months after your knee replacement!🥺 That is a long time to deal with it and we hope that you can find some relief soon.🌟 It's possible that the duration of your physiotherapy was necessary for your specific circumstances as being double-jointed they wanted to ensure that you were stable but it could also have been for other reasons as well. In case you are interested we do have additional information and exercises in a playlist we have compiled for knee arthritis help that could help you ease your discomfort. You can check it out here: “Knee Arthritis Pain Help” kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1maa9YF-WmKLF7oI4VoczH8i We wish you all the best! Please take care🧡

I just watched this video and I am sure going to try these exercises. I just wanted to ask you how I can do the laying down exercises. I have a bad back and can not lay flat on my back or on my stomach. I have a craftmatic bed and can go down quite a ways, but not flat. I am taking snovial fluid (Baxyl) daily and it is expensive and doesn't take away all the pain. I sure hope that these exercises will help.

For example…when I kneel…I sometimes have muscle painful hamstring cramping…this also happens if I were to lay on my stomach and reach back to grab my ankle/foot in a yoga class. Why is that happening ? and what can I do to prevent? It seems as if my quads are too tight.
@epmanualphysicaltherapy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mary Helen, sorry to hear about your hamstring cramping :-( This usually happens because of the same muscle imbalance that sets up the bone-on-bone knee pain - weak glutes and over-dominant quads. When this happens, the hamstrings also tend to become over-used like the quads. The problem is that the hamstrings are prone to cramping when over-used. So anything that involves bending your knee and hip back can set the cramping off. You've got to address the root muscle imbalance problem to prevent the painful hamstring cramping. Addressing the muscle imbalance also helps prevent so many other problems from worsening too! In case you're interested in our online program focused on addressing the root muscle imbalance, here is the link to learn more about it: www.epmanualphysicaltherapy.com/knee-health

My 82 year old mother has been diagnosed to have osteoarthritis on her knee no cartillage anymore on her left. She couldn't bare the pain and she just keeps on her bed almost all day, she couldn't stretch straight her knees and always bended. Little movement could give her so much pain. Could this exercise still advisable to her? Thanks a lot! God bless!
@epmanualphysicaltherapy3 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm Louwee Piamonte....that's a tough one. If she's been like this for more than a year, then she might be stuck like that indefinitely because of the changes in the joint. If she hasn't been like that for more than a year then she has a shot at improving. Although, she should go see a manual therapist to work on her knee joint flexibility. Joint, not muscle flexibility. It might allow her to feel good enough to get out of bed more.
