I had a herniated disk 7 yrs ago. Took meds, had several steroid shots, acupuncture for years. Then on my own, I discovered walking. I walk every day everywhere and a lot! It’s my only exercise. I don’t do any other exercises. Never drive anymore anywhere. Sciatica pain, back pain totally gone! I feel wonderful! Hallelujah!

OMG those exercises really works for me. I’ve done two this morning and hardly had any pain today. Tonight I’ve done the three of them and my foot feels so good! What a difference in my pain, yes I believe that stretching your sciatica nerve is not good for you. I’ve been doing it for many weeks and it doesn’t help me. Thanks for helping me to have faith in getting better by doing these these simple exercises.❤❤❤❤

Thank you so much Dr. David!! I have dealt with sciatica numbness since September of 2020 three days after a chiropractor gave me an adjustment.. I have two bulging discs, lateral pelvic tilt and mild scoliosis. Your video seriously helped me. It was a game changer!!! I feel a slight difference and I've only tried this video once. I will continue to work on these muscles!! Your video made perfect sense!! Nothing out there is quite like this!!!

Dr. David, I am amazed.... I suffered with sciatica for years, then the pain went to my groin and hip. I have been to numerous PTs and was never told about strengthening glutes!!! All I got was stretching exercises. After watching your videos for one week, I am feeling relief. Thank you for sharing this info, as I have completely lost confidence in medical physicians. I worked at a desk for 50 years and always tried to walk and do yoga, but I had no idea how weak my glutes have gotten.

I suffered one of the worst bouts of sciatica for the past 5 months. My doctor just threw a range of medications at the problem and advised lots of rest. Nothing worked. In desperation, I turned to KZbin for stretches etc. No relief until I came across your video for the top 5 exercises. Almost instant relief! I shared with a number of family and friends with the same conclusion. Your advice is sound and your suggestions WORK!!!! I can only say a HUGE THANK YOU❤

Thank you so much, I've been in agony for over a year and was basically told by other PTs to do everything that you advise not to do. I've been doing the butt and lower abb exercises for 2 days, and I feel better already. I'm so glad I found your videos. I'm from Scotland, so there no chance of me visiting, but you've absolutely changed my life. Thank you so so much for making the videos and showing on the skeleton where the pain comes from. It makes more sense whilst visualusing if you can see it in your minds eye. 😊

I’ve been suffering for 6 months with sciatica. I know I have lateral stenosis from a C scan. I’ve just had a. MRI but haven’t got results yet. I’ve been following you our exercises for about 2 months, and also getting fascia treatments for my super tight hamstrings. Both have helped so much with the pain. My butt and legs have really improved, I don’t get the shooting pains down my legs, but my right leg on the outer side of my shin bone above my ankle hurts constantly. It feels bruised. Even when my right calf touches a chair while sitting, it sets that bruised pain feeling off. Can the sciatic nerve be inflamed at the bottom of a leg and not so much at the top?

Wow. I've been suffering with low back pain, groin pain, and for the last 4 mos sciatica. I've tried every stretch, cream and lotion known to medicine. Nothing helped. In fact...the touted figure 4 made things worse. I tried various KZbin pt channels and most ended up making it hurt more. But your 3 stretch plus leg off the bed stretch is a miracle. Today. I went to my son's house. We patterned around his yard. When mh back hurt and sciatica came...I dropped and did the routine. On his deck, and leg off the Bannister. On his dock. With the leg off the dock. On his lawn with the leg off his work bench. No, none of these locations were ideal. But I made them work!!!! Thank you@

My Sciatic pain goes from my left hip all the way down to my knee and calf and foot (I also have Arthritis in my hips, pelvis, knee) so is laying in bed what caused my Sciatica? But I'm now taking Physical Therapy just for my knee...Doctor didn't prescribe the therapy for my Sciatic pain and hips and I was a little upset with that but they are trying to help me. I hope between watching your videos and taking some therapy I can heal or take away all this pain. Thank you so much. God Bless you. Bye from Ohio

I'm working with children and is difficult to work if I'm are not flexible. So I'd like to have it back but now I lost... shall I still avoid stretching at all or when I feel better I can do some stretching exercises again? If yes, may you give us advice, please, or do video about what are the best of them for people who already had troubles with sciatica? Thank you in advance! Can you talk about, the validity of a MRI, supposedly, my symptoms are not consistent with thr MRI. PT and chiropractor said my back was "twistef, on hip higher tha the other, and out of alignmrnt. How can a MRI, that shows a fraction of lumbar 4 & 5, pinched nerve be accurate. Why not stand vs laying down. I felt like my MDs thought I was faking. I do not want and have never taken any medications, so absolutely not pain pill seeking. So frustrated, and in pain on a scale of 1-10, consistently a 12 for over a year.

David if I could I would give you the biggest hug and a kiss I would. I’ve been in non stop sciatic pain from disc herneation L4L5. Tried many different moves and every time I do I irritate the nerve more knocking me down for 2 more bed rest days (specifically extension and bird dog). Yesterday I watched this video and tried butt blaster. I was scared to be honest and not sure what to expect. I rolled back and forth 10 times. Got up to see what impact it will have and I had a strange sensation like someone grabbed my spine and extended it. Felt the decompression in the thoracic area but when I walked around a bit I noticed my nerve was less irritated so now I became obsessed with this. An hour later I tried again. And an hour after that again. By the 4 th hour my leg pain was gone like a miracle. I still didn’t wanna get excited but I woke up today and for the first time no leg pain. I’ll see how the day goes but I can’t thank you enough for this relief that brought me instant hope. God bless you

Thank you for your useful videos. I have been following your recommendations and noticing improvement. I have a question regarding the hardness of a surface that one is standing on and its relation to sciatica. My episode was triggered by 2 lengthy standing sessions of 3 hours each on a concrete floor. While I was at work. I was in kind of a stooped position and I didn't know about engaging the gluteal and abdominal muscles. Going forward, would an anti-fatigue or soft matte make any difference as a preventative measure in addition to the exercises.

You said you’ve got to let your sciatic nerve rest and not use it and if it’s really intense acute episode of sciatica. You’ve got to stop putting pressure on that sciatic nerve as much as possible but then in this video he saying you’ve got to move so I don’t know whether I’m doing the right thing if I rest or if I’m doing the right thing if I move. Squeezing my butt muscles made my sciatic pain so much worse last night!!! I was specifically doing one of the things from this video series and holding my butt muscles tight and the pain flared up horribly and would not settle back down at all!

I watched your video to activate glutes and lower stomach. I think you nailed it as I have had severe sciatica. I had a bone spur removed L4 and L5 to open up the area in the spinal canal. I still have the same pain a week later. Glutes and sciatica rt side and some left and where the leg meets the butt. I have an old spondy l4 35 yrs ago due to a hit on my back but no back pain. Only lower. Ill work on those glutes and lower stomach activating and started now. Every hour and will let you know if this nasty pain when I put weight, or stand up hurts so much. Advil doesnt help. Got worse doing yoga. Im in Phx and wish I could come to your clinic! I sat for 23 yrs customer service job 8 to 10 hours a day. Retired now with the pain.

In the first five minutes, your message seems contradictory: "You've got to move!" and then "Nerves don't like to be stretched!" But then it became clear with "Strengthen you butt muscles!" Got it. Will do. Thx! Note: I was gonna count how many times you said "butt muscles" but finally gave up. Clearly, it's all about the butt muscles ;) I do pool exercises (water aeorobics) three-plus times a week. But I guess I'm not giving my butt muscles enough work.

Hey Monica! The trick to getting your glutes more active is to figure out which activities you do most and substitute them into that activity. For most people, this activity is walking. If you can start to walk, or swim in your case, with your glutes, then you will be able to drastically increase their activity and utilization. Hope this helps. In case you would like to learn how to walk with your glutes, here is a link to our video for this: “Does Walking Help Knee Pain?” kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaXXp2lsntlsrpY

There is a machine at the gym that isolates glutes similar to the donkey kick. I hate it because it seems so hard to do. Is it ok to start with a few reps and light weight and move up from there?

My knee issues are almost non existent since I have done your exercises. I had horrible sciatica issues years ago....that is a very persistent, and depressing pain. I wonder if you could eventually feature a thoracic pain video. I am thinking that I have a disc issue, which appears off and on. Once, in my volunteer work, I was carrying some trays, and afterward, my hand literally shook, all by itself. Sometimes I have what feels like toothache pain in the left side of my upper back inside the shoulderblade area, BEHIND the bra banda that goes across the back. It also itches all the time. I refuse to have an Xray until I figure out how to relax, and stretch that area safely. After standing at the counter in the kitchen fixing meals, and doing dishes, the pain begins to creep up. I hope you can recommend some exercises. I think many will benefit from your expertise.

I can't tighten my glutes at all when my legs are bent more then 15 degrees or so, otherwise np. I am long and thin; my thighs are super strong, and my ass is small. I have history of weak lower abdominals, mainly brought on by previous injuries. Looks like I have a lot more work to do to get my core back. The pain is unbelievable; sorry pregnant people, we got you beat by a mile on this one. It is unrelenting.
@epmanualphysicaltherapy
@epmanualphysicaltherapy 11 күн бұрын
Hi TungB, We’re so sorry you’ve been dealing with this! Many people don’t understand how frustrating and painful these issues can be unless they’ve gone through it themselves. Sciatica pain is can be unbelievably painful where even medications barely take the edge off. It sounds like you’re doing your best to stay strong despite the challenges, and that’s really impressive. Strengthening your glutes and core can definitely be tough when dealing with pain and past injuries, but every bit of progress counts. We have a few videos that might help with core and glute strengthening, and hopefully, they can offer some relief over time. “3 Big Reasons Your Glute Muscles Won’t Work Well For You” kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipLQiaKopt12d80 "Sciatica Pain Exercises & Stretches" kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1maZPQPPtirn4oxj8oCPuIMR Start with one or two exercises, beginning with the smallest range of motion and the lowest intensity. As you feel stronger, you can gradually increase both the range of motion and intensity. It’s best to do these exercises every day throughout the day. Aim to tire out the muscle without losing form or control. Consistency is key. Always avoid working through pain; soreness and mild discomfort are normal, but pain is not. Hang in there-you're not alone in this!
